Wilder hits considerably harder than McCall and Rahman, especially McCall, so Lewis gets bombed out by that shot yes. And Wilder would have a very good chance of catching Lewis considering that Wilder is taller, faster and more confident than the fringe contenders who chinned him with one punch, as well as Lewis himself. Wilder is also very tough, disciplined outside the ring and has huge heart, not someone who makes a habit of being KO'd in seconds, so he'd be around for a while to land his bomb. Lewis isn't as big a puncher as people like to pretend and Wilder's power has to be respected. Lewis turned pro at 23.75 after about 100 amateur bouts but he couldn't beat 10 of his 44 opponents inside the difference, including a couple of chinny journeymen. He also never KO'd anyone after the 8th round, suggesting that his power didn't carry into the last third of a fight. Saying "Wilder doesn't have a chance because Lewis KO'd Michael Grant" is like saying "Lewis doesn't have a chance because Wilder KO'd Gerald Washington".
Lennox would have been knocked out cold, wilders a jackass but that punch was destructive, aside from joyce i dont think any other active heavyweight could have taken that punch like fury did.
Doesn't get caught, but may get stopped if clipped Lewis does have a very solid chin despite his losses
Let's send this one down to the lab The results are back in Lewis sparked out from KO 50% McCall solitary right hand Lewis sparked out from KO 66% Rahman solitary right hand Can Lewis withstand solitary right hand bomb from KO 91% hardest puncher of all time Bronze Dosser? This content is protected
When Wilder fights someone who can stand up to his power he looses, when someone stands up to Lennox power he mainly wins. When Lennox has a bad night and looses he wins the rematch, Wilder doesn’t. If Lennox is on his game, he doesn’t take that shot. If he did take that shot, who knows.
Stiverne 1 and Duhaupas stood up to Wilder's power fairly well but they still got dropped and TKO'd respectively, both lost. Lewis was lucky that his only rematches were against overmatched fringe contenders, Wilder didn't have that luxury. Even if a fighter is on his game he can still get caught with a big shot from a taller, faster and more powerful champion opponent, especially if the latter is on his game as well. And if a fighter has a habit of being KO'd in one punch, he has a serious stylistic problem against Wilder.
Lewis is on a completely different level to Wilder as I stated before a prime Lewis takes Wilder out far quicker than Fury did. Your making the ascertion that Wilder can land THAT punch. I'm saying he doesn't get the opportunity. Lewis has more pop than Fury who before the Wilder 2 fight was considered feather fisted. Wilder can't live with Lewis on a skill level and his resume is about 2 to 3 tiers lower. It's a mismatch.
Sorry mate I forgot that Stivern and Duhaupas were world beaters, that makes the difference to my opinion of those Wilder and Lewis. The facts are when Wilder fights prime good opposite he looses.
Round 4? Wilder doesn't make it to round 4 against Lennox. But, if that shot lands on Lewis he's probably getting knocked down, don't think it knocks him out though, Fury didn't seem all that hurt.
Lewis isn't on Fury's level, who is taller, rangier, heavier, faster, more agile and more defensively skilled among other things. Prime Lewis went plenty of rounds with far inferior fighters than Wilder, who can clearly take a massive beating and is still dangerous when hurt. Only people who do not understand boxing considered Fury to be featherfisted before Wilder 2, there was plenty of evidence that he had substantial power. Being technically superior to Wilder is not sufficient as we've seen many times now; he can still land a rapid bomb from range and take you out at any time. How many resume points does Lewis lose for being KO'd with one punch on two occasions by fringe contenders? Because there is a convenient train of thought around here that claims it doesn't matter how many times you lose badly to B/C level guys as long as you beat the stiffs in a rematch.
Both had better chins than Lewis and McCall/Rahman weren't world beaters either, yet Lewis still got KO'd with one punch. Lewis never fought anyone nearly as good as Fury, let alone beat them convincingly.
Lewis would take it to Wilder and KO him early like Golota or Grant. However, if he gets hit by that punch he can get KOed.
This, Lewis would see Wilder as an opponent he wouldn't want hanging around and go after him straight away. And, let's be real he'd get him out of there in a round or two.
Hahaha, totally agree, but who's throwing their lunch at Lewis? That would really throw him a curve ball. Lol.
