If he doesn't then it's still a duck. I mean didn't he say in the past he doesn't care about the money, even recently he said that. He also said he would give his purse away to charity in previous fights. So he already has tons of cash, he was rich to begin with before boxing. If he can't follow the WBC's own regulations for interm champ and champ split... then what else can I conclude? It's a duck people. We have plenty of material that backs it up.
Great points but... Ok, if Whyte is 200% confident he will beat Fury & become WBC World Champion then surely taking a smaller payday to achieve his goals is a given?...
That is so funny that you perceive it this way honestly, it's a bit biased but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that you may be oblivious to previous statements made by both boxers. I'll summarise it for you, throughout history Whyte has stated that money IS important for him and that splits are important. Fury has categorically state time and time again that he does not care about the money, or the split and that he would give his purse away to charity in previous fights. Now tell me again who is avoiding this fight? Because 45% is the split ORDERED by the WBC regulations for this fight.
He says a lot of things. He also said he doesn't fight for legacy. You put me in a paradoxical position of arguing against a fight I want to see and think Whyte deserves, but he's not getting 45%. If you want to call it a duck, fine, but most fans won't agree and life will go on. He'll probably fight Joyce in a fight that most people are happy with, and either the WBC will install Whyte as the mandatory, and he'll be on deck, or Fury will sign with Usyk, which no one will complain about. After Whyte, Joyce, Usyk, and maybe Joshua in swan song, I can't think of another credible guy out there, especially since no one likes my Rivas idea. I have no interest in seeing Parker, Ruiz, or Chisora III. I can't remember the language, but the 45% is not locked in stone. It is more like a suggestion, and does not apply at all since the WBC is not mandating the fight right now.
But you wouldn't take less money for your car, your house... a Job Offer... an old TV being sold on Ebay... let's be serious am I exaggerating here??/ We all stand our ground in real life when negotiating these things... And here we have Whyte in the biggest fight of his career... and all he is saying is give me the 45% that he is owed as per WBC regulations for this fight? God kknows he deserves it considering how much effort has has put into maintaining his #1 position in WBC. He has had more WBC sanctioned, non-title bouts than Fury. Fury joined the WBC roster from NO WHERE!
I beg to differ on the "most people wouldn't agree" come on now... But let's put that aside... what is your statement on the WBC regulations in mandating 45/55 split for this fight? Just ignore it? Has no standing? Most people would agree with that being subjective rather objective.
A) It would not apply right now because the WBC is not mandating the fight. B) It is not set in stone. There is language in clause that makes it more like a suggestion.
Ok well with all due respect, you're being a tad biased towards Fury's favour here. Fury already got lucky with a title shot, which was undeserved, maybe he should pay it forward and doing something fair. It's not like Whyte hasn't earned a shot at the title. Weird no one wants to give that guy a bone on here, but most fighters and trainers inlcuding Whytes arch rivals like Chisora say he fully deserves a shot, I'd say in addition he deserves the 45% too. Seeing as Fury doesn't care about money and all that. You say he says a lot of things, well on the forum we tend to put a lot of stock into what fighters say, this should be no different.
I've never said anything other than Whyte deserves the shot. I said it in this thread twice. But he's not getting 45%. There is nothing biased about that. Without the WBC mandating the fight, Fury will move on, probably to Joyce, and then Usyk. It just business.
Yeah we're talking if it is to be mandated. "55-45%, except in the most exceptional circumstances" this doesn't appear to be exception circumstances, pretty standard. It's the guide set forth, even if it isn't set in stone... Whyte is being fully reasonable in following the WBC guide.
Let me clarify my statements, I am not saying you are biased towards Fury in who Fury decides to fight, I am saying you are biased in favour of Fury with regards to the split should Whyte vs Fury be mandated. Imo, you are not being objective. I've objectively said why Whyte should get 45, you have yet to explain why you think Whyte shouldn't get 45. Your assertion for a smaller chunk for Whyte appears to be emotionally driven from your side.
Whether should or shouldn't, unless Whyte's team have a way of enforcing the rules I would expect Fury's team to negotiate a better split for themselves, IF this is a voluntary. I don't think we can call it a duck, unless it turns out they will only give Whyte 30%. I also don't expect Whyte to get 45% on a voluntary. But if it comes out that team Fury are trying to offer Whyte less than 40%, I think Whyte would be justified in continuing to pursue the mandatory route. And I would classify that as Fury trying to get out of fighting Whyte but saving face with his fans by putting in a crap offer (much like Joshua did), and then pursuing an easier fight (much like Joshua did).
