Usyk is far more well rounded and dynamic, Canelo is good at setting traps, but Plant exposed his power until he really loaded up, Usyk is far more skilled.
Usyk, but it’s close & will ultimately be decided when they face each other in the ring …. (At a catch weight, with a rehydration clause.) Can’t WEIGHT!
While I think P4P Usyk is the clear number 1 right now, in terms of who's more complete, I think it's actually pretty close and you could make an argument for both as neither are without holes in their game. This isn't about who's better it's about who has the more wider array of skills and who can fight in more than one way and adopt a wider array of tactics because of their more expansive skill set. Canelo as we know isn't great against movers, he needs to set his feet to throw so constant movement gives him problems. But he's improved and gotten better at cutting off the ring, improved his counter punching to some what negate a mover and moves better himself off the back foot. But it's still an issue for him and Usyk in comparison has for me the best movement of any boxer right now. But Usyk isn't flawless, how often do you see Usyk fight inside? Answer, he rarely ever does, and when he does it's never for sustained periods, he moves too well too ever be made to fight at that range but it's still an aspect of his game that we don't see. Canelo is obviously better inside. But if I was too choose one I'd say Usyk. The Briedis fight showed him coming forward behind a high guard and when inside, throwing upper cuts and quickly changing angles and firing again. Kind of like Pac up close he doesn't just get up close and stand and trade he comes in with a shot, often a counter, pivots off, counters again, resets and starts again. Usyk may not be a traditional inside fighter but when inside he's still effective, more so than when Canelo is faced to chase a mover. So Usyk is more complete for me.
Usyk's style and ring IQ will beat Canelo's style and ring IQ. If you're a constant mover and have the ability to reset your opponent AND set traps for them then it gives Canelo a lot of troublem. Canelo still has problems with the Philly Shell, can still be tied up and can still be pushed back and turned around.
Usyk of course. he footwork is something that we have not seen in the past 50 years, both in CW and HW divisions. His movements is unique in it's own way and angles he is taking really similar to Lomas, but not as polished
He will wait till he is in his 40s, and call him out of retirment, drain him and put rehidratation clause as well.
Nothing, but they have different fighting styles & are pound for pound greats of this generation ranked 1 & 2 respectively & poetically it shall be decided In The ring as the fans will demand it. Especially if Canelo beats Makabu @ cruiserweight.
