Which are the greatest rivalries/fight series without any film?

Charles vs Moore is the obvious one IMO.

 

Sam Langford was quite incredible. One would need a calculator and a spread sheet to accurately go over every rivalry he engaged in. I did see that he fought Joe Jeanette 14 times, Sam McVey 15 times and Harry Wills 17 times. However, he also fought Jim Barry, Young Peter Jackson, Jeff Clark, Battling Jim Johnson and Jack Blackburn numerous times. Perhaps even more than the above. Boxing is a rough sport, but it was way rougher back then. Those rivalries are what kept the wolf from the door.

I'd be happy to see the two fight series between Greb and Walker. That really would be something to see and so much would be verified.

 

Archie Moore had many great rivalries in the 40s that went unfilled like Curtis Shepherd and Lloyd Marshall. And Jimmy Bivins 40s wars with Moore and Charles went unfilled.

Also must add the Ortega-DeMaro trilogy and all four of the Burnett-Lopez fights. Can't believe in the 70s none of those were filmed.

I don’t know if you’d necessarily call it a great fight series/rivalry but I’d love to see the two Shavers v Young fights, each fight a respective credit to Shavers and Young and what they did best. Vision that is sorely missing.

Boston Tom McMustache’s legendary best-of-63 series with Tex “Tiny” Sammartino, the 350-pound Goliath from Anchorage, Alaska, by way of the Philippines, is probably the best.

Boston Tom — the one from Los Angeles by way of Minnesota, not Barbados Boston Tom, the 160-pound featherweight — of course won the first 32 meetings in a row to end the series, but they were some real corkers.
