Hagler`s reach was three inches longer than Floyd`s and he ha a great jab, DLH didn`t punch his jab enough v Floyd and had a reach two inches shorter than Marvin`s, Hagler could have just thrown straight shots with either hand and asked Floyd to try and get in and score Ray had a 74 inch reach and could compete on the outside.

    Errrr, no it isn't.

The versions of Leonard and Hagler that fought one another were superior to old ODH.

Seriously, do you believe that Mayweather would beat every boxer in history from featherweight to light-middle?

They all didn't jab enough against Floyd.

Yeah, because all fighters are the same aren’t they?

Do you even watch the sport?

How about the fact that Oscar was a former LW, and that Marvin was a MW, who was capable of going to war as a southpaw?

How about looking at the specific stylistic match up of such a fight?

You only have the capacity to compare heights and overall numbers.

Anything deeper is simply beyond you.

We’re now at 12 pages, yet there’s still no breakdown.

All you have in your locker is that Floyd beat guys of a similar size.

    That’s all you have.

Floyd was a safety first fighter with hand issues at the higher weights.

He only fought at JMW 3 times.

He didn’t have the style or the attributes needed to have beaten Marvin specifically.

If you’re going to stick to your guns of where Floyd would probably have won, then tell us how.

why not? If Floyd knows Hagler was shot, and the public doesnt realize it yet, then where is the pressure coming from???

The public would just view it as "Floyd doesn't have a chance!" and a mismatch

So, using your Leon Spinks logic, Floyd has nothing to lose and everything to gain since Floyd is the smaller man with the public still perceiving Hagler as unbeatable

Think about what a win over Hagler would mean, the money it would bring

This all proves that trying to substitute excuses that YOU invent, won't work as a real determining factor when trying to come up with a winner.

All you do is resort to the usual "styles" cop out, and leave it at that, saying Leonard's style would work but Floyd's style couldnt possibly work because of some "Ali lost to Frazier who lost to Foreman who lost to Ali" nonsense

Does Vito Antuofuermo have Leonard's style? D !5

Does flatfooted Duran who came within two points of winning?

Of course Floyd has a chance. He sharper than Duran and more elusive

If you are a shot, over the hill fighter, as Hagler showed, then a fleet footed stylish boxer like Floyd, is in no danger and can always resort to tying up his much slower opponent while switching to a jab and grab style used by Colbert successfully for 11 rounds until Hagler went kamikaze on him

Hagler had a brilliant jab and a high work-rate, trust Hearns would have jabbed Floyd`s head off, he`s too small for those guys.

Duran was flat footed v Barkley too, no way could Floyd have landed as many shots as Duran did on Barkley without being stopped, Duran wa a master in-fighter. Floyd couldn`t take the same amount of shots of Hagler as Vito took in either of his bouts v Marvin, nor would have land as many for fear of being caught, Vito was far stronger than Floyd was, Mosley and Maidana would not have hurt him.

It is - to the objective among us. Alas, the power of a love crush (NoNeck's on Mayweather) transcends all common sense.

He does. I expect Mayweather to beat almost everyone below WW, or be the winner in a series of matches.

To be fair to NoNeck, he did mention Mayweather's ability to turn a fight against Hagler into a "Mayweather style fight".

I have no idea what that means in real terms, however.

Mayweather might last the distance, but Hagler should win every round.

    Mark Dunham,

How would Floyd have known that Marvin was shot?

    Based on what?

He’d knocked out Hearns in 1985, before taking a year out.

He’d systematically broken down John Mugabi in 1986, before he’d taken another year out.

Yes, he’d declined and had been inactive. But nobody thought that Marvin was shot. And many people think that he was robbed against Leonard, who had success for a few years after, up at the higher weights.

None of what you believe would have been realistic, simply based upon what actually happened in Floyd’s own career.

Again, we don’t need to be psychics or psychologists to figure this out.

Just look at what he actually did and didn’t do.

He wouldn’t fight a prime version of Manny. He wouldn’t fight Winky. He wouldn’t fight Canelo at 154. He wouldn’t fight above JMW.

    He said things such as:

“We don’t fight to see who’s the best”

“It wasn’t the right time to fight Manny back then”

This is the guy you’re talking about.

Everything above is factual. He literally used an MMA fighter who hadn’t had a single pro fight, in order to reach his goal of 50-0. Yet in your fantasy world, that very same guy would suddenly have fought Marvin Hagler at MW.

It’s absolutely laughable and completely illogical.

It’s not Fight Night on the PS4, it’s real life.

You talk about money, well how much did he make against Manny? Yet he was willing to put all that at risk.

I have given you a LOGICAL opinion based upon FACTS.

What have you and No Neck offered?

“Floyd could have beaten Marvin, because he beat guys of a similar size”

“Anything that Ray could do, Floyd could do better”

Just baseless, casual fan type logic.

You can’t even offer a breakdown.

These comments above tell everybody what your level of boxing knowledge is.

When looking at any hypothetical fight, the very FIRST thing that you do is to look at how they would have matched up stylistically.

Yes, Floyd couldn’t have replicated Ray’s gameplan.

Not because he wasn’t as great as Ray, but simply because he didn’t possess Ray’s style and attributes.

Let me know when this sinks in.

    Did Floyd have their attributes?

    Did Floyd have their characteristics?

Would Marvin have fought tactically against Floyd, or would he have fought him aggressively?

You haven’t taken any of the above into account.

You can only debate on statistics.

    A lot of ‘IFs’

IF Floyd had been as confident.

IF Floyd had been as offensive.

IF Marvin had have shown Floyd the same amount of respect.

IF Marvin had have boxed and not fought.

Floyd’s great defence wouldn’t have been enough.

He’d have needed to have been very offensive in order to have tried to have won the fight.

Floyd had competitive fights with faded versions of Oscar and Cotto.

He barely beat Maidana just after he’d breezed by Canelo.

He’d have had no answer if Marvin had’ve fought aggressively from a southpaw stance.

He’d have been backed up and put on the defensive.

It’s like you didn’t even watch Floyd’s fights.

All you and No Neck are, are stat men.

Stat men who compare measurements and numbers, whilst ignoring styles, characteristics and actual evidence.

I’m just waiting for one of you to say that Manny would have been favoured over Hagler, based upon him beating bigger fighters in Oscar and Marg.

The same way Leonard knew when he finally called out Hagler

    you should know these things.

and to think that I am debating someone who ranks Leon Spinks over Floyd Mayweather

Dipping below Hagler`s waist leaving no legal target to punch at.
