Carnera vs Bowe. 15 rounds. 1950s rules. As in the previous Louis vs Wlad / Frazier vs Marciano threads, all poll options will include whether or not the voter has had least one amateur or pro boxing match. Voters and commenters of all sorts welcome I'll put my money where my mouth is and vote first, as usual. Out of respect for the forum institution that Bowe vs Carnera has become, I won't yet set a timer on when the poll expires.
This is not in the spirit of the original thread. The infamous Carnera Bowe thread, was the ******* offspring of an argument, about which of them was better from a technical standpoint.
If this is the sort of thing that courts a ban and/or thread lock, I'd be more than willing to delete it. It wasn't picked for trolling purposes, but because this is a frequent (notorious?) waypoint in forum debate about technique in the 20s and 30s. I just wanted to see behind the curtain of those technical discussions by looking at hard numbers of boxing vs non-boxing experience takes on the issue.
You are, of course, quite correct. This isn't a "crash the forum" thread, or a spiritual successor to Bowe/Carnera I. It involves the same fan favorite combatants because the promoters of this bout believe that both will draw a crowd. But we hope the crowd stays for the boxing. EDIT: So...who are you voting for, eh?
I actually think that Bowe would probably win head to head, but can I bring myself to vote for it, after all the sh1t people gave me in the other thread!
Suddenly, the revanchist undertone to your disappointment that this isn't Carnera-Bowe 2 becomes clearer...
