I know most of us are still giddy about the Lopez’s getting humbled but can we also appreciate the masterful boxing lesson he gave to Teo. Took the fight to Lopez, didn’t panic, showed clever boxing and counterpunching, dropped Lopez, bloodied him up, didn’t let the KD faze him, and still proceeded to beat him up afterwards and winning the belts in Lopez’s hometown. Congrats to Ferocious Kambosos! Well deserved! He literally took over Lopez’s night, his 0, his crowd, and his belts. He’s the Hostile Takeover from Down Under and NEW Unified World Champ.
Him and his corner showed some inexperience, George could’ve really put a stamp on things if he stood his ground more late but overall really excellent performance and awesome grit from Kambosos.
I said this in my other post. Bang on! They werent perfect but it wasnt as if they did just enough either. The game plan was good. The execution was good. i loved the angles of the jabs combod with that left hook. We saw it really opened up a lot of over hand rights and there was this one nasty upper cut as well. I thought it was a boxing clinic. He crowded teo on the inside so teo couldnt load up. He backed off and fought on the outside. He did get caught tho.
George fought a fantastic fight and showed enormous heart in the Championship rounds. He fought like a Champ!
Rewatched the fight and Kambosos looked better on replay, so much subtle movements and sneaky counters. He really tamed Lopez for most of the fight while Teo was too focused on a KO win with no plan B. Kambosos even won the last 2 rounds handily after looking like he was on the verge of getting stopped, he showed the heart of a true champ.
Lomachenko had a bad plan for Lopez, who in turn had a bad plan for Kambosos. Just need Kambosos to have a bad plan against the next guy. Kambosos made me a fan last night. I had seen him before but hadn't been that impressed. I am now.
I wasn’t all too impressed with him either upon initial viewing of some of his other fights but I’m glad he proved many of us wrong. I’m sure Kambosos and his team won’t make the same mistake of highly underestimating their opponents.
