Some people have better chins and can punch harder. Should we ban them as well?

I know I have been a bit harsh on Tank Davis’ choice of opponents and cherry picking over the past few years but he’s not a weight bully, quite the opposite in fact. Tank is a chubby undisciplined fighter who ate himself out of 130, his probable natural weight. He’s a small frame midget (or is he a dwarf?) who has lost a belt on the scales due to his lack of discipline.

Tank can’t make weight to fight guys his own weight so he has them step up to his weight class and fight him. Genius move if you can get away with it. LSC is a great example and his next opponent is shorter than tank and also moving up in weight. As long as chumps/fans are dumb enough to fall for it, he’s going to continue doing it. Has anyone wondered how he’s been able to duck ALL top challengers at 135 and still has none on the horizon? He’s 27 years old and treated like a prospect. Still, he’s no weight bully.

Yep, no hopers bums come in all shapes and sizes. He didn’t fight Josh Taylor or any top guy at 140. Tank is a bumkiller except on Twitter where he will “fight” all the top guys.

In a world where everyone cuts weight to fight in their respective divisions, what on Earth is a weight bully? Going further:

Haney and Ryan's weigh in weights are both, according to BMI, in the range for a "healthy male" So how are they weight bullies? They're both young, lean, professional athletes, the type that you would expect to not have much fat on them. A weight bully would be Chavez Jr, someone who's frame barely allows them to compete at the weight they're competing at. This ain't that with either of them.

As for Tank: Tank is visibly smaller of stature than everyone he enters the ring with but he's a weight bully? He's actually overachieving in weight classes he really shouldn't even be fighting in.

    Stop.

Strawman argument.. The difference is that weight divisions were made for a reason, because weight/size can easily negate skill especially if there isn't a significant difference in skill. You don't see chin divisions do we..

The main point of mine is that weight bullying is a thing and fighters obviously do it to gain a significant advantage. They wouldn't do it to drain themselves and put themselves at a disadvantage.. Otherwise why are they not fighting at their natural heavier weight (you can guess.. Becuase it's harder!).

You lot essentially are accepting of weight bullying and unfair mismatches = you're not a fan of fair playing field fights = not a fan of boxing but of the circus show of mismatches

To be fair you're probably right on Tank kinda, I thought LSC was a weight bully move though

While I agree with some of your points, the fact is EVERY fighter has the option to be weight bully if they choose.

Tbh that's kinda what makes boxing interesting, different styles, game plans, sizes, etc.

Certainly backfired for Lopez last Saturday.

I don't completely disagree with you in terms of the fact that I'm sure some fighters stay at a weight because they think it gives them a size/weight advantage. But I think you're overstating the impact of it somewhat.

So, if you're not the literal undisputed champion at a weight, you're a "bum"?

The problem with these types of threads and people like the thread starter is that they want to pick and chose who they deem is a weight bully or not based on if they're a fan of the fighter or not. I've seen this done over and over again. Be consistent if you're going to do this or you have no credibility. I've seen certain fighters who are huge for their weightclass but never get mentioned, why is that?

They need to return to same day weigh ins for fights, I'm sick of seeing 140 pound fighters walk into the ring at middleweight. If you're too weak to weigh in on fight day at say 140 then fight as a welterweight, geez is that too difficult? It was standard procedure for decades and it didn't seem to hurt Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong and many others

Can't argue with your logic. Like I said before, I don't see why fighters put themselves through the hell of cutting weight. But, as usual, whenever there is money to be made, humans always try to bend the rules.
