Joe Joyce is a very good heavyweight, but he's going to be past prime and run into a situation like Zhang did in his fight against Forrest. Another year or so Joyce will be in decline. Age 36 Joyce should have fought three times this year and be ready for a world title shot, but it seems he's poorly managed.
The evidence does support what you say, seems as though they're protecting his high rating after the Dubois win.
Won't matter. He's got practically zero chance against Fury, Usyk or even Joshua. Politics will probably prevent Joyce from challenging for the belt next year, but fights involving Fury/Usyk/Joshua are all more interesting anyways.
Totally agree. He should have a fight booked for December. He's not getting enough experience or exposure. I have him #5 in world and would be a handful for anyone but is not going to get a title shot at this rate. One of many HWs being badly managed.
I also would like to see him (and a lot of other fighters) fight more but you have to give all the fighters a break right now since the COVID bs is still around, it’s not as easy to put together shows with audience right now.
I think he’s doing ok in regard to his boxing and the way his career has been handled. I like to watch Joe, and I do rate him highly. I think he has a good chance against any of the top guns. It can’t be too long till we see him out again.
He's never had an issue staying in shape so I don't see the need to take tune ups the way guys like Fury do. More than likely they are waiting for meaningful fights and if he fights 3/4 more times against top 5 fighters than I think that can work for him.
