Do you think Whyte is popular/known in the UK as a boxer?

I don’t know many people who likes Whyte outside of this forum too.

 

I know plenty. 2.5 Million PPVs to date, sold out arenas.. gosh thats a lot of dislike.

 

Being well known and being well liked are two different things. To follow on from your example, plenty of people used to buy Mayweather's Pay Per View fights in the hope of seeing him get worked over and defeated.

Edit: Probably a more recent and better example, at least from a British standpoint, would be Tommy Fury. He is well known and in the public eye. How well liked and well thought of do you think he is after he made a complete tit of himself in that candid video taken at the club?

 

I think thats a bad comparison to May weather, because Whyte isn’t a champion, isn’t undefeated and hasn’t fought in any championship fight. And so the PPVs and the sold out arenas are repeat business for this guy... they come back for more because they like Whyte’s style, his persona, after fight interviews.

Youtube comments are very very positive for Whyte’s IFL interviews, the public love it.

 

How many times has Whyte sold an arena out? 3? One of those was an all AJ crowd and the Chisora one was probably 50/50. You're acting like he's a huge draw on his own. The Rivas, Browne and Wallin ticket sales show he's not.

 

What 229k PPV for a non title fight and unknown in Rivas?

Yeah 3 or 4 times he has done it, no small feat for a non champ or non title fight, like I said name me someone who has done more or better in same position as Whyte????

You think 20k attendees is a small feat? Jesus. You birthday only gets 5 attendees by comparison.

Just because people watch him doesn’t mean they like him! As a lot have said, being well known and well liked are completely different things.

Just because you really like him doesn’t make it the general consensus - it’s not.

 

Haha oh gosh, I dislike tennis. And Wimbledon is a well-known tennis event. I am not going to pay money to watch Wimbledon because it is well known. Also because I dislike it.

Usyk is well known here, I am not going to pay money to go watch Usyk fight. And I would have a hard time convincing anyone I know to do the same.

Spong was going to fight Usyk in Chicago, I was going to watch Spong, if he wasn’t there I wasn’t going.

 

Yeah and where are you gonna be if Whyte beats Fury?
