That's right, I forgot he lacked the confidence of a fighter with 7 pro bouts

Lol at Winky expecting 50% against Floyd.

Classic Winky Wright School of Business.

    Floyd called Winky out.

Winky was the champ at JMW after beating Mosley and Tito.

This was 2 years before Floyd had fought Oscar and Hatton etc.

The fight was agreed. The rehydration clause etc.

    It’s obvious what happened.

    Here’s another link:

You’d no doubt be saying the same thing if it was 1985:

“Lol at Hagler wanting 50/50 with Floyd”

You’ll excuse anything that he does.

    You’re a deluded fanboy.

You even believe that the IV which was purposely never disclosed to the NSAC was all above board.

I think it’s time for a quick recap of the gems that we’ve had so far in this great thread:

“Anything that Ray could do, Floyd could do”

“Canelo and Hagler were the same”

“Floyd had no trouble beating guys of Hagler’s size”

“Floyd would probably have beaten Hagler”

“He’d have just done what Spinks did to Holmes”

“Hagler couldn’t have hurt Floyd, even if he’d have landed”

“It would have been just a typical Mayweather fight”

“Mayweather would have pot shotted him to a U/D”

“Floyd could have done what Ray did, he has the better record to prove it”

    Keep them coming boys.

Just don’t drive or operate any heavy machinery.

He would have to run pretty much the whole time.

I don't mean run and pot shot, I mean run.

It would be like David Haye vs. Nikolai Valuev writ small, except probably without the littler man scoring a burst of hurtful offense in the closing minutes. Floyd would need to be painstakingly careful until the very last bell, and then probably lose a decision unless he got some very sympathetic judges and had managed to squeak in at least a body jab every round to justify giving him shares of them while denying Hagler any touches of his own.

Sort of like asking could Mayweather beat the inactive and worn out Hagler who was not as motivated? Probably but the question is was he big enough to keep Hagler off of him. The Hagler of 1985 who fought Hearns. No way he beats him.

I would definitely agree that Hags 87 version would not have Floyd in any danger. he had next to no punch because he couldnt get Ray in trouble

when you have no speed, you have no punch

and if you have no punch, then you cant hurt Floyd

He would be lucky just to REACH Floyd

The Spinks - Holmes analogy was perfectly valid. I cant imagine why you'd have a problem with it

and of course, whatever Leonard did, Floyd does better

    compare the records

    Floyd: 50 - 0

    Ray Leonard: 36 - 3 - 1, barely making it to 40 fights

In case you forgot your basic math, it reads like this: 50 > 36 (more wins are better)
0 < 3 (fewer losses means higher proficiency)

and who can argue with numbers?

    false statement.

You and I have never had a conversation of this nature

More over, you never seem to give any backup for your opinions and for this you fault me

In the real world, if one is asked for their opinions, they are asked to justify them

Yes and Hagler would have beaten Winky at 160 too, however Winky`s reach would have helped him v Hgler and would have posed a big problem for Floyd like any elite light middle, Canelo did not have a light middle reach, his reach was far shorter than Winky`s.

Would never happen LOL Floyd was proven terrified of Antonio Margarito as his histrionic behavior proved when Tony merely politely asked him "why wont you fight me " lol He'd probably had a coronary if that had been Marvin

    Mark Dunham,

I can only assume that you’re trolling with this sort of nonsense. Although why anybody would troll and give people the impression that they’re unintelligent is completely beyond me.

Marvin didn’t get Ray in any real trouble due to poor tactics and by Ray being so offensive, where he threw great combinations before jumping back out of range.

However, seeing as though literally millions of fans worldwide think that Marvin deserved the win, he obviously did trouble Ray somewhat.

Again, Floyd would never have been so offensive against Marvin. He’d have been backed up and put on the defensive.

The truth is, Marvin had declined, but he wasn’t shot. It was just a bad stylistic match up for him. If he’d have fought Mugabi instead of Ray in 1987 instead of 1986, I’m sure that we’d have seen the same fight where he’d have broken Mugabi down.

You’d have to be a complete fool to believe that Marvin couldn’t have hurt Floyd had he have landed.

Of course. But back in the real world, he was reached by Oscar and Cotto, and he barely beat Maidana in their first fight.

It’s just a nothing answer and you know it. If you really believed any of what you’ve said, you’d have given a breakdown over 20 pages ago.

Floyd was a small, defensive fighter for the majority of his fights at the higher weights. I know, as I watched them all. I watched his entire career. It wasn’t in his nature to be offensive and aggressive against a guy like Marvin Hagler at MW.

Statistics aren’t the most important thing. The most important thing is how they’d have matched up stylistically.

Floyd cruised by Canelo in a masterclass, but then barely beat a crude, B level, 3 loss Maidana who’d lost to Khan etc.

It doesn’t matter if Ray had lost 20 fights and Floyd had retired at 100-0.

Floyd didn’t have the style or the attributes to have beaten Marvin Hagler.
