Why is Whyte pricing himself out of another whirl Title fight?

But he isn’t the mandatory as things stand and isn’t entitled to any split.

Whyte is the interim champ, that hasn't changed.

The rules state that an interim champion receives the same purse as a challenger. So no, the rules don't state an Interim champ should receive 45%.

Here is the bit you SHOULD have read

Yeah about heart, desire and will... Fury fought Pianeta, Schwarz, Seferi and Wallin since 2018. Barely Top 60 fighters. In the same period, Whyte fought Povetkin , Chisora, Rivas and Parker. All top 10/15 guys easily.

Discounting Wilder fights of course, I mean every tom dick and harry would fight the champ.

 

So going back to your original question, where did 45% come from. Yeah it came from the WBC regulations, and interim champ is entitled up to 45% under normal circumstances.

Upto 50% under special circumstances.

Seeing how accomplished Whyte has been in the WBC roster as compared to his peers like Fury who was gifted a title shot being outside of the Roster entirely (unranked), I'd say Whyte is eligible for the 45% FOR SURE.

Oh, and in terms of PPV draw and popularity, yeah same answer... Whyte is fully eligible having sold more tickets and PPV sales than Fury.
