Amir Khan vs Kell Brook Officially announced Monday

From the Adam Smith interview where the ifl guy mentions the texts to Brooks dad the offer Khan and Brook from Hearn was a guarantee so no PPV upside.

 

I do not agree with that. I actually think one of this year's best boxing uk events was Smith vs Fowler in october. The undercard that night was really good. Didn´t you watch DAZN Saturday night/Sunday morning ? What a fight !

 

Let's not mess around, the sad state British boxing is in these days means we'll all watch this. I do agree, outside of AJ-Fury, this is the biggest UK fight.

Unlikely given both fighters will be on a fair amount for this fight. I doubt Sky run more than four PPVs next year so that is something to cheer.

 

I did mate but Hearn didn’t make that fight he just bid on it at purse bids. Had nothing to do with either fighter.

Any idea of the possible undercard? Would be nice to have a heavyweight scrap on there.

 

Two things I've picked up on regarding this fight, from today's press conference. Could be nothing though.

1. The word rematch seems to be have been mentioned. Maybe tongue in cheek but Khan mentioned it and so has Johnny Nelson. Could they both be looking to drag this out over two fights? More loot?

2. Johnny Nelson said that Kell Brook phoned him a while back and said he's just been on the phone to Khan for an hour and a half discussing the fight. Two guys who supposedly can't stand each other on the phone to each other for an hour and a half, discussing the fight?

I genuinely thought they disliked each other but if they're sharing hour long phonecalls then they could be just trying to get two bags of money out of this.

I’ll check the result in a morbid fascination type of way but it’s all too late in the day this one.

 

Shades of Bellew v Haye all over again - both following the PPV sales script at pressers and laughing together behind the scenes at a fight well sold.

Those PPV Mugths are really thick if they get reeled in for this farce.

 

149 isn’t great for Kell. I fancied him before I seen the catchweight and also the old sparring stories. Khan seemed very confident in them. I know you don’t read too much in to them but if they’re true he’s mentally already got one over Brook.

Khan is a classy fighter, proper skilful, he’s maybe one of the more underrated fighters of the past 10/15 years? Because of his glass chin. Does a weight drained Kel Brook have the power to hit him on the chin and knock him down? Kel has took far more punishment too. Serious damage and miles on the clock.

I love how Khans argument as to why he and Brook are not past it is Crawford is also 35 and is one of the best P4P. They will say anything to sell this crap.

 

Khan having a glass chin is a bit of a myth for me. It’s his defence that was the issue and that he left himself so open. The shots he’s taken that have knocked him out/down would have put most away.
