I mean...Japan has done multiple travel bans since the pandemic started and they rank #153 in the world for deaths per million population (just 146, compare with the USA way up at #20 with 2,399 ...worst is Peru with 5,982) and #147 in cases per million (just 13,715, compare with USA once again twentieth highest with 147,558 ...#1 is Montenegro with 250,064) so...they're doing something right.
A general travel ban seems to work, but this line of logic is faulty. Japan also took the longest of G7 nations to hit 50% vaccination rate yet still have a low death rate. (And did well before they passed the US in vaccination rates) Correlation isn’t causation. From my understanding, Asians are generally less likely to be hospitalized by covid even if infected, for whatever reason.
They're quicker in east Asia countries to mask up en masse without "questioning authority", too, given their past history dealing with SARS like illnesses. This wasn't a dumb move on their part with new variants sprouting up just before the peak infectious seasons. In hindsight it may end up seeming like overkill but they are taking a safe over sorry approach which you can't really fault them for...even if some very appealing match-ups we're dearly looking forward to end up scuppered as collateral damage. (hoping they don't, though)
Yeah, they are.... in retrospect, it's a pity the Democrats and the media weren't a little more supportive of Trump's isn't it? Thankfully, I didn't need the whole "in retrospect" part. I actually realized that when it was happening.
In Japan people have been routinely masking up for years on their own. It's part of the culture. Let's hope the fight isn't cancelled.
Why even bother with Murata, even if GGG gets a spectacular win, this will do nothing for him. Glad to see him finally back in action but this fight almost seems pointless.
People are so low on Murata. The irony being that he is the fourth toughest/best opponent of Golovkins career.
This is a good fight and will be huge in Japan. Hopefully it comes off as planned and is an exciting match.
If they cancel the fight over Golovkin and his team not being able to come to the country, they are dumber than I thought.
"The planned fight will now take place in the first quarter of 2022." - per the Scene. Well...technically, if that is true, it'll still take place in GGG's thirties, at least.
