I think this is a stylistically a good matchup! So how'd the fight go in your opinion? Here's some fights for better visualization: This content is protected This content is protected
Folley, like most h2h matchups for Norton, has a punchers chance. I personally have a Norton UD imo, a pure boxing lesson from Kenny.
Zora Folley faced bigger punchers than Ken Norton, Sonny Liston. Sure he was kayoed but I think Zora with his boxing skills wins on points, he was not a puncher.
Folley doesn't do well, the herky jerky style of Norton could not be timed by Ali and neither could Folley...my dad trained in the same gym as Folley in Pheonix and was amazed at his defense but his defense was his strength he had power but was not a forward moving power puncher like Foreman or Shavers which is why Norton struggles with punchers his akward drag his back leg which served as a kickstand is the reason he could not move backwards very well and the reason big punchers could catch him...Nortons punching rythum was no easier to time than his movement and he could punch with his akward looping style munches hard enough to stop Folley
Zora was more of a boxer and Ken did fairly well against those. And while neither man was especially durable, Ken had more of an ability to hurt Folley than the other way around. I went with Norton by TKO though a decision Is also possible
Great matchup. I would favor Norton, but Zora Folley in his prime was force to be reckoned with. Certainly a crowd-pleasing bout.
I like Zora to pull off a bit of a shock win and stop Kenny. Not an early ko like Shavers or Cooney, perhaps Zora having to get off the floor himself. Good match up, like it!
Interesting to read the description of Liston v Folley, with Zora apparently really putting it to Sonny in the first rd, perhaps even giving Liston cause to back up a bit? Not good policy given the fact that even bigger puncher Cleve Williams had already tried a blitzkrieg attack twice before coming to grief shortly after. I’d probably favour Norton by UD but see Folley as a very live moderate underdog.
