The Gallen Lussick fight is gonna be my last day of work for the year. I am considering slumming it with the bogans and watching it down the local instead of booking it at home like I normally do.

I could see you getting into a little bit of trouble with the backslappers Middy.

I dont see you letting statements like "Gallen could beat Tyson Fury with the right prep" or "George Kombopoulous should fight Tim Tszyu next" go through to the keeper.

LOL yeah that is why I never go my mates all know that I am the hardcore fan I have been out with them for a few UFC fights because I don't really care about MMA . It is not that I would say anything to the bogans but it just burns my ears and hurts my brain hearing that kind of talk I am sure most on here can relate. But seeing the Gallen fight is a nothing fight and it is on a Friday I will let my hair down and have a few drinks and cheer on the G train.

A Danny Green fight at the pub back in the day was the ultimate bogan dope fest.

Ha you're both painting a familiar picture thats why I watch most fights at home now , gone are the days of finishing in the club about 02.30 and heading straight to the Snooker Hall ,

    Those were the days.

Standing room only, 10 minute wait for a schooner.

Yet I had to watch De la Hoya-Vargas on a tiny T.V next to the kids playroom. With only my brother and 2 mates seemingly interested.

    * Kambosos Jr instagram followers increased from 100 000 followers to close to 350 000 F and increasing daily
    * Terry Nickolas GK sparring partner and GK promoted fighter gives insight into GK mindset and how delays increased GK hunger and how his co trainer in Aust Mick Akkaway worked on overhand right that turned the momentum of fight early.

Just wondering where people rank George's win in an historical sense? In my time following the sport, I've always regarded the best three wins by Australian fighters (and I include all fighters who fought professionally for this country in that statement) as being:

Jeff Fenech KO 10 Victor Callejas to win his third world title & stay undefeated in doing so.
Kostya Tszyu KO 2 Zab Judah to unify at Junior Welter. The WBO belt wasn't a big deal back in those days so you didn't need it to be considered "undisputed". In fact, King Kostya used to hire the WBO champ as a sparring partner for his fights.
Vic Darchinyan KO 9 Christian Mijares - Brutal kayo by Vic to unify the three major belts of the time at Junior Bantam. Hasn't merited a mention in the mainstream Australian media as one of our greatest ever victories. Shame on the Australian media for that. Almost as shameful as the coverage they gave Vic during his career.

I've never ranked any of those wins by those fighters above the other. When Vic unified the belts, I thought I was very fortunate to have seen not one, but two blokes reach the summit of the mountain fighting out of a country half a world away from the three major boxing markets in the world - the US, Europe & the UK.

Now we've got another one who has reached the summit & planted the flag. George's performance was the equal of any of those great wins by legendary fighters.

The other best wins by Australian fighters that I've seen were Jeff Harding KO 12 Dennis Andries & yes, Horndog UD 12 Manny. They weren't for all the marbles though. Daniel Geale winning two world championships in Germany & unifying them is worthy of mention also.

Winning all the belts & being able to claim "undisputed" status is extra special.

I might add I wasn't around when Lionel Rose beat Fighting Harada in Japan to become world bantamweight champ. That fight also needs to be viewed in its historical context. It was only a generation after WW2. A lot of 40 & 50 year olds would have fought against the Japanese in the war. So you can imagine that win went down pretty well at the time.

I think it's safe to say that this cracks the top 3. Might even be #1. Monumental feat on many levels.

I think it is the best singular win by an Aussie fighter but in terms of greatness he hasn't surpassed Fenech yet. I love Tszyu and Vic but they only count as half Aussies IMO as they were good amatuers from a tougher system than over here.

The question is does it top Danny Green's wins over the legend Roy Jones or the big name in the states Danny Santiago?
@Francis75 what are your thoughts on this?

Lionel Rose's win over Fighting Harada is still number one for me. Harada is probably the second greatest Asian boxer of all time. Rose went to Tokyo and beat him at just 19 years of age.

Horn's win over Pacquaio deserves praise. He beat Matthysee, Broner and an undefeated Keith Thurman after it.

Other fights that get overlooked are Jimmy Carruthers beating the undefeated Vic Toweel in South Africa and Johnny Famechon beating Jose Legra in London. Legra's record was something like 105 and 5 heading in. Honourable mention to Peter Jackson and James J Corbett which was a No Contest after 61 rounds and his win over George Godfrey for the "coloured title".
