This is embarrassing…I sincerely hope other boxing forums don’t read this and believe it reflects on the boxing IQ of the entire board.

Okay true but lets be real prime Ali is far superior to prime Joshua. Klitschko would be more comparable to Ali in that sense as he entered his prime a lot later and struggled with weak opposition earlier on.

It seems to me Joshua started off already as an "elite fighter" based on how easily he demolished all his early competition and cleared his path. Almost zero difficulty. wheras Ali developed to that point lot like a Lewis. Joshua really hasn't improved all that much. Yeah he can box and move a bit better but thats about it. He saw him already doing some of that against Ruiz in the first fight but he went in and got clipped

Yes, prime Ali is better than prime Joshua, but no version of Usyk would have this jaw broken by Ken Norton or be knocked silly by Cooper.

Yes, anybody can cherry-pick their factoid. The bottom line are that these are two great fighters, and the idea that Usyk would not be competitive, when he is clearly better than a number of Ali opponents who were, is ridiculous.

Ali was beaten by Norton and had to use dodgy tactics to beat Cooper, but Usyk would have no chance?
Foreman gets beat by Jimmy Young, and goes life and death with Lyle, but Usyk would have no chance?
Liston was beaten by Marty Marshall, but Usyk would have no chance?

    And on and on.

Just stop. If Usyk competed in the seventies he would be right there with all of them. The funny part is that when I did a poll recently, a majority thought he would beat Frazier, Foreman, and Liston, but you mention the name of Ali, and people lose their minds.

The over rating of this lot of Heavyweights is incredible......The Fat Man Ruiz has a punchers chance against all of them...And people put them up against this....

Usyk would clean out "Prime" Ali's generation of heavyweights.
    "Prime" Ali was a cruiserweight.

I mean, why? This is the type of **** that draws hatred towards fighters. Or is it the purpose, to get people to hate Usyk?

Honest question, was 60s HW era even that good? Why wouldn't Usyk (as big as Ali) clean that era?

Usyk aint gotta steel jaw, its bone and bone can most definitely be broken, but Norton or Cooper obviously wouldn't knock Usyk down with a headshot because Usyk has a great chin, maybe even better than Ali's

Guess you didn't see the first post on this thread did you ? I'll save you the trouble dude
Also people overrate Ali, thats why people go crazy. Frazier and Norton's chances against Usyk are excellent because styles make fights. Both are better at pressuring that Briedis anyway. Ali's not so much although i might slightly favor Ali, but i never ever claimed Ali vs Usyk wouldn't be competitive and i think i go on record saying Usyk cleans house in the 60s. He definitely beats Sonny Liston

Not as good as 70s or 90s(which I think is a little overrated)I’d say It was pretty good, with a lot of exciting fights and quality fighters. Usyk would fare well against Quarry, Patterson, Machen, Jimmy Ellis, Buster Mathis, Bonavena, Chuvalo, Cleveland Williams, Ernie Terrell etc. But Fraizer and Liston are a different story and I don’t think Joshua, Gassiev and Briedis are enough for a sample to suggest Usyk would clean out an era involving those guys. You can of course talk about size but as someone who watched every single one of his fights for the last decade in Usyk’s amazing career both as an amateur and as a pro, he had his hardest moments against smaller opponents who can match his fluidity.

Beating ALI don't mean he is the best HW in boxing history.

He has a good chance against every HW in history, but that does not mean he could win every one of his fights.

Usyk would give Ali major problems. Basic ham n egger southpaw Mildenburger gave prime Ali a tough fight. Ali kept on circling to his right, straight into Burger’s power hand. Ali doesn’t make any adjustments in his fights, he just keeps on doing the same thing hoping it’ll eventually work.

Liston never beat anyone with Usyk's size and skills.
Looking at contenders who got title shots I would say it was not a good era.

Did you watch any of the fighters I mentioned or are you saying that based on a quick glance at boxrec? Agree to disagree, either way.

For one, he wasn't escorted back to his corner, he was in his corner and one man guided him to his stool. Nothing wrong with that. Smelling salts were banned in the 70's and that fight took place in 1963, His glove may have been torn but I never saw him change gloves. He answered the bell when it rang and proceeded to beat the brakes off Cooper. You diminished Clay in one breath and in another say not to diminish one fighter for another. That's fake.
