Plant had to fight canelo Alvarez the #1 ppv draw and the fight was in Alvarez home town not to mention canelo already had a history with bogus score cards. It must of taken some balls to even step in that ring and let alone win some if not most of the rounds until the knock out.
The guy is a professional boxer He got in the ring as he should and was paid well He done nothing of note and got knocked out
No credit. Talked a big game, but came into the ring with nothing but a pawing jab and asking for validation from his opponent. A bum.
Plant did not have to fight Canelo. In boxing there are always ways to avoid mandatories. He could have also vacated. He lost the respect of his peers and fans when he was asking Canelo, mid fight mind you, to validate him as a boxer and opponent. Ten million dollars plus ppv percentages... yeah... he did it for the "re$pect"
Seems like the title win over Uzcategi satisfied a bit too much of his hunger. It looked like he was very prepared for the Canelo fight, but he wasn't prepared to take the risks necessary to win. I loved Kambosos' attitude toward the Teo fight, talking about how the so called lesser puncher should land a mean right hand in round 1. Caleb was hoping to tip tap and land a huge counter but it just wasn't going to work. If his goal was to be competitive, he succeeded; but, everyone who isn't a hater knew he could do at least that. He doesn't deserve too much of either respect or hate.
He fought his fight and lost. As noted, respect for fighting, but beyond that he was looking to survive.
Give him props for taking a fight to make life changing money ? That is what Plant did. Nothing wrong with it. I just don’t see how that garners more respect.
