Theres been so many great, great chins , Hagler, Gavilan, Greb, Ali, McCall, Morales. But imo the cream is LaMotta , rounds 11 and 12 of the Lamotta-Robinson vi bout prove it. And Robinson punched very hard still at 160 , the Fulmer knockout proves it along with others. Not any disrespect to the others , but LaMotta's chin was unreal , after him id say McCullough though
Why have more people not mentioned James Toney? He takes heavyweight shots like they are nothing and he's just a fat middleweight. Eubank has a shout though and La Mottas was superb too
No he didn't. He caught Logan with a swing from the rafters while in desperate trouble himself. Benn never went down nor was going down at that particular point.
I know its "Middleweight Chins" but people just shout out Hagler as number 1, when he never relly prove himself like Micky Walker, I talking about his trip to the heavyweights. Talking the best punchings from Schmeling and Sharkey with out takeing the ten count. I dont think Hagler could do that feat.
Wdym resume? Reggie Johnson tested both him and Toney's chin and he said Castro had a better chin. Terry Norris said that Castro was tough. Cruiserweights such Vassily Jirov who also claimed that he is a close second to Toney.
When we are talking greatest chins ever at 160 there's a solid collection of guys. Personally i don't count feats at other weights when talking best middleweight chin and a lot of others don't from what I've seen over the years. There's a reason why there's been no love for Castro.
Not up there with the greats but Gorilla Jones resume is pretty good 109 fights never KOd ! Also Cerdans only stoppage was the TKO from the LaMotta fight, pretty impresive no ? Both had way above average chins. keep well.
