I think he can, I mean do you expect a boxer to just be able to take KO punches from guys like AJ and Povetkin? Your expectation are way to high, this isn't DC comics or Marvel. It's real life. If you get hit by a 10 year old girl in the face, you're going to feel it.
Lennox Lewis loses Evander Holyfield loses Riddick Bowe loses Mike Tyson loses George Foreman wins Michael Moorer wins Tommy Morrison 50/50 Larry Holmes wins Ray Mercer 50/50 David Tua loses this is how i think he would do
Well you want to look at the stoppages, and the knockdowns they both suffered, and at the hands of who? And how many rounds of punishment did they endure before hand etc. Whyte took 7 rounds of brutal punches from AJ going to toe to toe. With Pov he was KOd by a fantastic punch from a KO artist, that would have KOd most guys.
Lennox and Mercer would have ko'd Whyte within 3 rounds, he might beat Bentt but im not sure whether Morrison would get floored by Rivas and Parker
I agree, though I think Mercer vs Whyte would have been closer than you think. I still edge mercer, but not by much. Lennox of course would have a field day with Whyte, he has so many attributes going for him.
When I saw the title I thought at first it was 90 year old HWs. Like Luis Ortiz. I'd still give him the edge over Dillian. The actual 90s HWs all beat him handily apart from maybe Moorer who was rubbish.
I dont think its a slight on whyte that these guys would be heavily favoured against him. These guys mostly had extensive succesful amatuer careers. In a time when the gyms we,re full and the kids had not nearly as much to occupy their time with. They sparred hard for round after round learning their craft. On the other hand whytes had little amatuer career....was he a crossover from a succesful kickboxer or something like that. You could say hes punched way above his weight...in terms of achievements etc. But a big ask making up what he missed...even moorer was training in emmanual stewards gym from an amatuer. Up until fighting joshua did whyte even have a proper trainer. Hes done great getting to where he is...but these guys we,re better in pretty much all aspects of the game imo. Not just whyte i,d fancy a lot of them to take joshua out as well.
Probably doesn't do great, but doesn't become a total bum either. Technically he reminds me of a less fluid Tim Witherspoon. He'd have a few entertaining tearups with the Lionel Butler and Everett Martin types but get embarrassed and spanked by the upper echelon.
He might beat Morrison, would have a decent chance against Moorer, but he doesn't match up well with those fighters. You could have thrown some decent names like Golota, Sanders or Rahman that I think he'd have an OK chance of beating due to their vulnerability.
