I get really excited and nervous as hell for fights that I been waiting for months. Fury-Wilder being the most recent one. When I saw Wilder drop Fury in the 4th round it really made my BPM go through the roof. That fight had me on the edge of my chair from the start! Share your stories!
I'm a huge Povetkin fan, I actually had tears in my eyes before he KOd Whyte. I followed his career my entire teenage years, basically. I remember jumping up, that KO was insane. I think most people jumped up, that was the craziest KO I have ever seen. Generally I get nervous when anybody I like is fighting anybody with a pulse.
I do if I care about the result. If I'm indifferent then no. Recently Fury vs Wilder 3 and Usyk vs Joshua I felt a bit nervous during the fight - that's what makes boxing so exciting.
Used to get incredibly nervous. Huge pre fight nerves, anticipation and excitement. Not so much as I've gotten older. Well... not sure if it's because I'm older, or boxing doesn't have matchups that excite me as much any more. Or at least as often.
I used to. I think the last one where i kind of shook out of nervousness was Trinidad-Vargas. I was 16 at the time and Vargas was my favorite fighter at the time, and i knew Tito was a beast. Easily one of my favorite fights of all time.
I agree, Older we get, it seems the less we get that buzz before a fight. Not sure, could be as you say, the fights don't have that exciting feel about em now. Tho I did look forward to the last Wilder V Fury ft.
Same with me. When i was younger, i would get nervous, now im bout to be 38 and ive outgrown the nerves a long time ago. Lol. Now a national anthem like the us, mexico or filipino during a big fight might get me the goosebumps, but nervousness......NO SIR!
Mostly excitement, perhaps some nerves if I sense that one or the other outcome will lead to better fights in the future. I can't watch baseball because of how nervous I get about the Red Sox, so I know the feeling you're talking about. You picked a good one to get nervous for. Underrated as a fight for all time. I didn't really care about Trinidad at the time (I was pretty young) and only came to appreciate him later.
I say about 70% of the fights that I care, I am nervous. Especially if the guys who has to prove something is fighting.
