Recently reading that Bob Arum had stated losing a lot of money on promoting Terence Crawford, my question is:

Is the PPV responsibility weighed too heavily on the boxers rather than the promoters?

I'd urge anyone to ponder the purpose of 'boxer' and 'promoter' and evaluate what those job titles entail.

The PPV model needs to go away for a while and fighters need to build themselves up on TV again.
Right now besides my DAZN sub I'm not paying for another PPV until UFC 270 because it's a straight up rivalry that promises KO's.
UFC knows how to build a guy up on TV before throwing them into the PPV model and will occasionally still hold a great tv fight that feels like a PPV. Bellator and ONE does this too.
Boxing has lost it's way chasing those May/Pac days again. That era is gone.

I absolutely agree there. The PPV mentality has to go away. Making great fights on TV should be an attribution to boxing fans, funneling onto PPV.

Boxing in the US has been in the hands of some very old guys for quite a while now and that lack of energy and dynamism is really hurting the sport.

It just shows that people don't like and appriciate good boxing skills, they would rather see Wilder KO someone with one punch.

Seems far worse than that when Youtubers can pull in massive crowds and I have to hear about great boxing matches not happening due to lack of interest.

Seems to go in roundabouts as to great fighters, great fights and title chasers. These rarely meeting.

I get the sentiment. I - as I imagine many people - waited so long for Mayweather to face Pacquiao. Once they eventually met it was all but limp and I watched 2 great fighters facing - as the result of - promotion's hype in the ring.

Plenty of young talent in the world, but you can't get on US TV without going through Bob or Al who are both getting on in years.

It's those organizations and structures that are stagnating.

You're trippin. That guy is injecting hype into PPV and disrespecting the boxing game. Apologies if that 'Jake Paul kid and his brother' are two different people, they don't seem to come up much in conversation about boxers.

Please tell me how these people are bringing anything positive to the sport.

When did you hear anyone talking about the tachniques, tactics, ability, etc, etc,

You're either trolling or tripping. I'm keen to hear boxing fans' opinions concerning boxing.

I'm saying this in the knowledge that Youtuber's will garner an unprecedented amount of PPV of eyes to gawk and awe at a freak show.

Where's the respect for the sport?

Where are the true fans when all the fake s*!t talk has ended and they go again, all the while boxers are throwing it down in the ring?

The issue is you can't make fights on TV if the network won't put up the money.

Crawford v Porter shouldn't have been on ppv but clearly espn were not prepared to pay the purses for that fight.
