Very interesting imo both guys are extremely durable, hit very hard, big and strong, Tua is probably faster but Jeffries is better conditioned
    15 rounds…who gets it?

The only footage I've ever seen of Jefferies was grainy pictures of him getting destroyed by johnson.

On the other hand ive seen countless brutal KOs by Tua. Just watched one the other night on youtube when he knocked out a suicidal Michael Moorer in the first round.

I'm picking Tua by similar stoppage

Jeff gives him a good go with his rugged style, durability, and body work. But I think he just takes a sustained beating.

So you don't think that Tua would take a beating? Do you think that Jeffries was worse defensively than Tua?

An hard tough fight with both laying in to each other.
Think I'll go with Tua stopping a bruised and battered Jeffries, in around 10.

Tua destroys Jeffries.....he isnt a 170lb Fitz nor 185lb Sharkey and as far as fitness the pace of fights in his era was extremely slow and the reason they could fight for hours if needed

All I have seen of Jeffries in a pro-active mode was some grainy footage against Ruhlin where Gus seemed to suffer a panic attack from the first decent body shot he received.
To my eyes Jeffries was plodding forwards, chin being partially protected by his shoulder, no head movement at all, left hand carried at waist height.
    He seems slow and predictable.
Allowing for the poor quality of footage

It's hard to say really... as the only footage we have of prime Jeff is almost unwatchable.

We know, that he was very strong and durable, and the best of his time. But what this means, in terms of actual ability, is anybody's guess.

Jeff may have been better than we think... but if I were to put money on such a fight, it would be on a Tua stoppage within 5 rounds!

So you deducted from this footage that Jeffries was slow? How is that possible?

In better quality footage we have, Jeffries looked quite fast for his size. Of course it's training videos, so not the same but I can't see you judging Jeffries speed from Ruhlin fight footage.

If Jeffries was even half as good as people said at the time, then he would beat Tua.

This. Jeffries was regarded as some kind of monster in his time. But with almost zero footage of him it becomes very problematic matching him with fighters in fantasy fights, especially against modern fighters.

I'd have to say Tua because I've seen what he can do and he's a known quantity to me. Id guess ... guess, mind you ... that in a brawl between the two that DT comes out on top.

Unknown, Jefferies wouldn't have any physical advantages on Tua as he did against fighters in his day.

He would have had height and reach, albeit not vastly so.

I think Tua is the better fighter and the harder puncher. So if they slug it out Tua should win in theory. Jeff isn't knocking him out and he probably isn't outboxing him. When did Jeff win a convincing decision over an elite fighter remotely close to his own size?
