So you can measure the power by looking at the punching power? I mean, it's fair to say that you can see powerful punch and differentiate it from light punch, but you can't say which power punch is more powerful.

Is it possible to say who punched harder between, say, Liston and Foreman based on footage? I don't think it's possible.

 

Yes it is.

 

It could be used as an argument, or even evidence but it's definitely not a proof.

You can't differentiate two massive punchers by watching footage. You can't say if Liston hit harder than Foreman by watching them both.

 

You can't differentiate, but you can clearly see both hit really hard.
In Fitzsimmons's case, you can't, cause there's no footage.

You can certainly tell guys like Tyson and Shavers hit harder than Jimmy Young. You can also visually see the effect of their punches on guys you know the exact record of e.g. never knocked out, never dropped despite fighting x etc.

Footage is a great tool because you can assess everything else on top of it as well.

Yeah, but that's actually related to the resume of each puncher. You can't say who has the better chin without knowing the record.

 

What Johnson said is irrelevant, that's not proof.
