I agree with this. Honestly, I think he's appalling, it seems like he's making up his script as he goes along. But I enjoy watching him do it, he's a complete antidote to stronger characters like Bunce, Haye and Frampton. Not bland enough for zero risk Sky Sports, and not trendy enough for DAZN.
I like him. I think it’s probably like when a series you watched as a child reboots and launches a new series after 20 years or so, and you know there are better things on the tv, and times have changed, but you watch it anyway and you are satisfied with it because it’s comfortable and slightly nostalgic.
I only tune in for the strange tangents. Let's be real here gents, the boxings shite half he time, but at any moment Dempsey may give us the secret to the elixir of life or the location of the ark of the covenant. Anything could come out of his mouth, even some boxing commentary.
I think I read somewhere that somebody asked Darke why he doesn’t do boxing anymore, and all he would say is that Rawlings is great commentator. I find Dempsey’s **** measuring contests with Haye weirdly quite entertaining. Whilst he’s not as good as he was, he’s still a link back to the golden Sky era of boxing, so I’m happy he’s still about.
I like him. He’s experienced and keeps things moving along with half decent questions to pundits. He isn’t great at football commentary however.
The hair is underrated. BT Sport should offer a live feed of Dempsey's hair which could be selected at any point during the evening, regardless of whether Dempsey is presenting or not.
Imagine if DAZN in the future could have Paul Dempsey as TV host and Ian Darke as commentator. It would be a dream scenario.
His hair is fantastic and I mention it every time I see him on TV. It's better than any of the false stuff on on the other channels.
