In these days of multiple champions who are the ones who never get mentioned.The one who stands out for me is Glenn Catley

Don't see these names that often on this forum ? keep well.

 

Nice names. Who can forget the Hackney Rock

 

Great names it seems to me that Marsh was ostracised after the Warren accusation

Steve Robinson

 

Especially Paul Hodkinson who nobody at all seems to mention

Think John is well remembered by many

 

Ryan Burnett. Shame what happened to him.

It’s been a while since any of them have popped up in conversation.

Remember the title was British forgotten champions, some of them I wish I could forget.

I rarely hear people mention Howard Winstone as well, but I think from those who do he is fondly remembered.

 

My first ever live boxing fight was Clinton Woods vs Julio Cesar Gonzalez as a 14 year old.

 

My first major event was Calzaghe v Reid coincidentally I was 14 years old.

 

I went to that fight as well, watching it live thought Reid was unlucky not to get the verdict.But watching afterwards it was a fair result

 

I am with you on that, ringside at 14 (not an expert then or now) but I thought Reid shaded it, years later i watched it back and thought Calzaghe edged it and accepted the result.

On Robin Reid he was quite under appreciated considering the wealth of talent we have been lucky enough to have at 168, Bronze medalist at the olympics and should have really been a 2 time world champion.

Doesn’t really get mentioned enough considering he was a decent fighter.
