Yes, mythical pre war era fighters who turned into an inhuman wrecking force for a single fight were truly a sight to behold. Its a shame modern electronics leaching radiation into the water supply killed this innate superhuman ability and this feat can no longer be achieved in today's landscape.
I don't fancy Dempsey against Fury. The gulf in skill between Fury and Willard is roughly analogous to the grand canyon. Add to that the fact that Fury is even bigger than Willard and has shown himself to be quite adaptable ... not looking good for JD. Granted that Dempsey can hit as hard as anybody his size, so I guess his best chance is to spring right into it and not let Fury settle down. Maybe his best hope is the inconsistent form that Fury shows. If Fury writes him off as "a little midget" and trains on pies and guiness, Dempsey might beat him. Otherwise I'd take Fury all the way.
As much as Furys resume and skillset is beyond overhyped. There's a 60-70lb weight advantage. Fury would bully him
If Dempsey hurts Fury, he can stop him. If Fury keeps him on the outside and clinches when he's inside he'll wear Dempsey down
In 1919, Dempsey wins. Dempsey can drop Fury, then just stand over him and pummel him as he tries to get up.
Dempsey was a genuine bad ass. I would not write him off. He would beat the brakes off Wilder. hands down. For all the qualities Fury has...I would not rule Dempsey out. I would bet on him out of respect if nothing else.
A lean and hungry 187 pounds, 6'1 with 73 inch reach of Dempsey vs a 270+ pound, 6'9 and 85 inch reach of Fury. Unless Fury hangs his jaw out there, then Dempsey has in my opinion no chance to beat Fury. Fury is not just a big ol unit, he knows how to use his physical size, he has speed, skill and an ability to reboot his braincell rapidly, if he is tagged by an opponents punch. I say this from position of being a big Dempsey fan (not fan of his lack of title defences though), but i cannot see Dempsey getting a win vs Fury
Ridiculous question. Dempsey couldn’t beat a light heavyweight in the 1920s, he can’t be compared to modern heavyweights at all, much less Fury.
Plastic is taking our manhood. Chemicals in plastic may lower testosterone. Although I know you were being sarcastic in your post, there may be some truth in what you are saying. How true this is? I can't say, but I have read several articles from different sources that say this. One from Shanna Swan. She is a reproductive epidemiologist. So, Dempsey would whoop every man that has been born in the last 50 years. LOL
