It's that time again to list down some of the best fights of the year. Here's my list of Fight of the Year candidates of 2021. Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 Roman Gonzalez vs Juan Francisco Estrada 2 George Kambosos Jr vs Teofimo Lopez Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton Brandon Figueroa vs Luis Nery Stephen Fulton vs Angelo Leo Mark Magsayo vs Julio Ceja Terence Crawford vs Shawn Porter Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez Brandon Glanton vs Efetobor Apochi Emmanuel Navarette vs Joet Gonzalez Angelo Machado vs Angel Fierro Isaac Dogboe vs Adam Lopez Tank Davis vs Mario Barrios Tank Davis vs Isaac Cruz Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano Carlos Adames vs Sergiy Derevyenchenko Jaime Munguia vs Gabriel Rosado (Update) Sam Eggington vs Bilel Jkitou Troy Williamson vs Ted Cheeseman Zurdo Ramirez vs Yunieski Gonzalez Joseph Parker vs Derrick Chisora 2 Which would you say was the best fight of this year? Feel free to include other fights that haven't been mentioned yet.
From your list Roman Gonzalez v Juan Francisco Estrada but also have to mention Sam Eggington v Bilel Jkitou
Great mention of Eggington vs Jkitou! Great toe to toe battle. I'll also add Troy Williamson vs Ted Cheeseman as well.
I know the wars usually win these sorts of things, but Usyk-AJ was a lightning speed chess match and I think it's up there. It was quite unusual in that aspect because it's a heavyweight fight. Both guys were intense and frenetic for the whole 12 rounds.
Outstanding year of boxing! My personal favorite was the Cruiserweight war between Apochi vs Glanton. Hands down the best undercard fight of the year. As for title fights, Uysk's controlled performance against Joshua was a personal favorite.
Estrada vs Chocolitito 2 Fulton vs Figueroa Charlo Castano Any of these 3 can win in my book. But most likely it will be Fury-Wilder 3, even tho towards the end it was pretty much one sided for Fury, there was plenty of drama, and plenty of knockdowns.
Thus far Usyk-Joshua was my favorite s ir produced an unexpected masterclass from Usyk in a major and historical upset. Second to that would be Kambosos-Lopez, an unmitigated full action bloody war resulting again in a major upset. Third would be Charlo-Castano, a back and forth no holds barred battle.
I don't support it for the win but another finalist: Matias vs Jukembaev I feel like there are other we're missing.
Here's my top 3: 1. Roman Gonzalez vs Juan Francisco Estrada 2 - these guys should be given the crown in advance for next year too 2. Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 - ultimately one sided but it was spellbinding in the moment 3. Troy Williamson vs Ted Cheeseman - what a war Honorable mentions for: CastaƱo vs Charlo Kambosos vs Lopez Usyk vs AJ Tank vs Barrios Apochi vs Glanton I just can't shake the feeling I'm forgetting a big one.
