Who is currently America's top Heavyweight

The hipster choice is Jared Anderson but he's a naturally small heavyweight who lacks experience. Too early to say.

Right now I suspect it's still Wilder but he sustained two horrible beatings back to back from Fury and is considering retirement, so it's impossible to know.

Ruiz would probably lose to all of them H2H because of his stubbiness and cement feet and no one is underestimating him any more.

 

I don't think US have top HW right now.

 

Wilder still, he sucks but his power and will are more than enough to beat the other american heavyweights.

 

Wilder at this point in time. Hopefully theres a few young prospects coming up as it's a sad state of affairs to be honest.

 

Where is the option for non of the above?

 

1. Hunter - clearly the most talented and well rounded American HW despite his last poor showing.

2. Ruiz - Best career win of all American HWs.

3. Wilder - Loads of wins against low level opposition.

4. Anderson- up and coming, clearly more talented than Wilder and will surpass him soon.

Then next between is Martin and Forrest.

 

Hard to put Hunter at the top given how bad he was in his last fight.

Top 3 is accurate, difficult to decide on the order as they all have question marks. Wilder dropped Fury a few times but has won a handful of rounds in his last 3 fights. Ruiz got dropped by a bum in his last fight. Hopefully they fight each other and we find out.

 

Up until last week I would've said Hunter. The Forrest fight left a bad taste in my mouth.
Wilder: you can't be stopped 2 fights in a row and be top anything.
Ruiz: didn't look good in last outing but the most accomplished even if only for a short time
Charles Martin: nah
Jared Anderson: too soon

Ruiz jr for sure....I like Wilder but he hasn,t won a fight in many months ( over 2 years ), also he,s semi-retired by now i think.

 

Probably Wilder, which is not much of a praise. I also expect Jared Anderson to have the claim soon, maybe Richard Torrez too in 3 years or so.

 

Wilder. He's certainly not the total package, and Fury showed that Wilder lacks some fundamentals. But Wilder's power is quite possibly still unparalleled in the division. I could see Wilder having a few more exciting fights (win or lose) before riding off into his beeping-smoke-alarm sunset.

Ruiz had a Buster Douglas moment which he'll never live up to again, and he really hasn't looked all that good since. The only reason he's ranked high is because the division as a whole is so weak. Throw Ruiz into the 1990s HW scene and he wouldn't even be a blip.

I think it still has to be Wilder, which is an indictment on the current US HW scene. Hopefully Anderson or someone makes a splash soon.

 

Whew!! Has the American heavyweight scene ever been this bad? I think the answer's no, and I say this confidently.
