My point isn't that Byrd was beating Vitali (though Vitali was not outlanding him by much) it's that even the tiny non-puncher Byrd was able to avoid getting mauled by Vitali. Clearly his punches, relatively light as they may be, were an effective deterrent. Hrgovic is also easier to beat than you think because he's a B-side who won't get the favour of the judges or the referee.

As good as Hrgovic is and could be with pro experience, no one really cares about him. This is pretty much word for word what Sam Jones said about him in the context of Joe Joyce's next opponent. They picked Dubois because he was an easier fight and a higher status, more lucrative one. And so long as Hrgovic's promotional team keep him fighting stiffs, none of the top guys have any reason to fight him as he remains unproven in the pros, high risk and low reward. I would not be surprised if the winner of Martin-Ortiz becomes IBF mandatory. Hrgovic is unlikely to fight Usyk or Fury because they will have retired by the time he gets his shot in several years.

When was Vitaly healthy in the fight? Byrd was lucky that night.

I disagree, Dubios before he quit was winng that one.

Hrgovic throws a lot of punches and his accuracy is good. I don't see much of a difference between his opponents chins and the top 10's. Okay some in the top 10 are better but not that much better. When he lands they go down. And who can avoid the incoming? Boxing politics suck but I do think his management has him on deck with the IBF. If they don't move soon, the WBC or WBA will. Usyk has no plans for retirement. Fury you just don't know what he will do. IMO, he's good but has already shown his best vs Wider.

Nobody Hrgovic has beat is above class D. They are all club fighters or journeyman.

Baloney. He has been moved pretty quickly for his amount of fights and beaten some good class c's and good b's class former names easily without struggle. I'd like to see your class c and b. They heavyweight division is shallow. To say unedited fighters or former names are class d is just not true. Haters got to hate. I agree he needs to fight better but those c's and b'ss using box rec as a grading system ( Ranked at 30-50 ) want no part of him.

Vitali was fine at the start, his shoulder didn't start playing up until late in the fight. Vitali was notoriously injury prone though, hence his hiatus. He was also a punching bag relative to Wlad and threw a lot more punches too. This surely contributed to his injury problems.

You don't speak good English. What do you disagree about? I said that Dubois was perceived as an easier fight than Hrgovic and the rewards were higher as a domestic fight with Dubois was far more lucrative and interesting to the casuals than a fight with an unknown Croat. It's also silly to say "he was winning before he quit": he quit in the 10th because Joyce had busted up his eye and broken his will.

If you think his opponents have equal chins to the top 10 then you're delusional. He's been fighting absolute stiffs, often on short notice, because he's chairman of the who needs him club and his management don't care to get him good fights. His power is very good but not Wlad, Wilder or Makhmudov level, otherwise he would have levelled a badly faded Kevin Johnson and Sean Turner.

If Usyk wins the rematch with AJ, he will surely make an undisputed fight with Fury, provided Fury beats Whyte. After the fight, Usyk will be close to 36 and Fury 34. If they have a 2/3 fight deal, that would take them to 36.5/37 and 34.5/35. If Fury wins, he may well have one last fight against AJ for big money. If Usyk wins, I can't see him sticking around for that long as an ex-cruiser, dependent on speed and stamina more than most, with 350 amateur fights, plus 22 pro and 6 semi pro over a long career. And he would have conquered the heavyweight division, beating the best of his era, so what would be the point in going on to get beat and soil his legacy because he's washed up? At minimum, Fury would be 35.5/36 when he could fight Hrgovic and Usyk would be 37/37.5. This is assuming that if they stayed on, they wouldn't fight a different mandatory/mandatories before retirement and that Hrgovic won't lose over the next 2-3 years. All in all it seems unlikely that they will fight him, both are closing in on retirement.

Totally irrelevant they want no part of him or how fast he 's been moved, fact is he hasn't faced anybody above D level unless you rate 42 y/o Kevin Johnson as C level which I don't any more. He was last at C level 6/7 years ago, not 2018.

Hrgovic reminds me of a more athletic Vitali. Good power and he comes to fight. Problem is, as noted precisely, his opponents are not doing him any favors in advancing his career. He doesn't get better by fighting opponents at the c anc b level. Zhang expressed interest in fighting him. That would at least be a step up from these no names.

He reminds me of Vitali Klitschko.
Hope he get to fight Fury or Joshua in The near future before they leave boxing.

You people have been gassing this Hergovic character up for quite some time now, years even
    ..
Seems he is more content to fight Algerian construction workers on overseas undercards then he is to get in there with any real fighters.

I forsee him coming and going the same was as Arturo Beterbiev

Hrgovic is getting fatter and fatter and while doing that he's getting slower and more hittable. He looked awful in his last few fights against some pizza delivery guys. He has no business among the elite HWs at this point.

I was high on Hrgovic a couple of years ago but he's another of those mismanaged guys fighting bum after bum after bum and losing motivation in the process. I don't blame him at all but it's sad to see. He clearly has some skills and talent. His management is a JOKE. And don't tell me EVERYONE is ducking Hrgovic....lmfao. You can still make good fights. Look at Yoka vs. Bakole now.

Yep. If you can’t afford someone like Takam, Jennings or Breazeale(all 3 would fight anyone for decent money), you have no business managing the career of an olympic medalist.

He is so untested, I hope the guy does well but he needs to up his level of competition.
