Armstrong was the contemporary of SRR. What's the reason to call SRR top 1, but having Armstrong outside of the top tier?

did you see me say who won or lost
does a person winning mean their style of fighting cant be outdated to you

cause if not that means no winning or losing doesnt matter

So Louis could be outdated while destorying modern fighters left and right? If so, I may even agree with your definition of "outdated" ;)

I get that rose tinted glasses is a thing.

But this thread proves that the opposite is also a thing.

Boxing didn't suddenly become great in the 90s and peaked when Mayweather debuted.

winning or losing has nothing to do with outdated a person can still be be outdated and win or lose

look at ali its people he could beat from 80s-90s but still lack the tech they had which means he is outdated

and joe never beat anybody modern except Jersey and he wasnt a full modern

Alright then, Louis is outdated by modern standard but it wouldn't stop him from dominating.

He's the only heavyweight I think prime for prime would stop Larry Holmes.

Armstrong was a bit before SRR. When they met and SRR beat him, Armstrong was at the end of his prime and SRR was just beginning his. SRR later admitted that once he hit Armstrong with the first few punches, he realized that Armstrong was just an old man, so he took it easy on him and carried him.
Like I said, in terms of greatness, SRR is no 1 for me. But Armstrong is also top 5, so he also ranks great. But I simply see SRR as superior H2H, that's why I say he'd be way more successful against a modern pro than Armstrong.

Who did SRR beat that proved he was capable of beating "modern fighters"? If Louis doesn't count because of poor competition, name SRR opponents that weren't obsolete...

... or simply admit that you like fancy stuff SRR did in the ring and that's the only reason why you don't bash him like other fighters from his era.
