Conor Nigel Benn vs. Christopher Mark Algieri & Katie Taylor vs. Firuza Sharipova RBR.

I've said it already but the Algieri that fought Prov, Pac and Khan would have probably done the same to Benn. Hate seeing these past their best guys being wheeled out to pad records.

Put Benn in with Avanesyan and then we’ll see how good he is. No doubt he’ll be mentioning Ortiz Jr, Ennis etc in his post fight interview.

Even Mckinson would be his toughest test to date.

 

I didn't think he looked that great tbh, Algieri just danced about for half the time.

Benns patience was good and he does good body work but I'm 95% sure as soon as he faces any sort of real threat, he's going to get poleaxed.

He needs opponents who going to cause him problems, but I know that's not going to happen because Hearn is trying to steer him towards a world title and hopefully for him PPV.

Algieri is past his prime but even at the srage of his career he would beat Ben'ns previous best opponents. Algieri quite clearly still has very good foot work.

Benn went to body more effectively than we have seen him do before.

 

Tbf good finish from Benn but Chris Algeri looked like a 37yr old Chris Algeri.
You could tell by his strategy that he had studied Benn and was looking for counters. But it was a 37 year old in there and his body wasn't doing what his mind wanted to do.

 

I'm not trying to say conor Benn is the next Canelo, but people do tend to have short memories when it comes to other fighter's careers.

Canelo, at this stage of his career wasn't fighting anyone better than algieri.

Give Benn a break, he's entertainment ffs.

 

He is British TBF he may have grown up in Spain but English is is first language (he does also speak Spanish) Nigel is a Brit so you carn't call Conor anything other than a Brit but i agree Conor needs to be tested needs to fight Mckinson or DA next not Broner.

 

He's come a long way since getting both of his eyes closed up by a kickboxer but this has been an extremely Eubank Jnr style cherry pick of a journey

 

Hearn will try and build Benn into a PPV fighter whilst fighting faded fighters.

I think he’ll try to get Mckinson a mandatory shot as he’s like ranked 3rd with the WBO, so when the titles become fragmented he can make Mckinson Benn for the World Title.

That way he can make Benn a World Champion without too many risks.
