The Klitschkos brothers and Lewis are modern guys who do not Bob and weave or duck, so I guess their movement is trash too. There are multiple styles and stances in boxing. If you're a tall fighter who likes to operate on the outside such as the ones mentioned above, it could actually hinder your style to try to Bob and weave or duck the way guys like Frazier and Tyson did since you are decreasing your height and giving smaller guys a chance to hit you. It makes more sense to lean back or keep a high guard on defense while stepping back or to the side to maintain your preferred range. A boxer puncher who prefers mid range like Louis who can parry shots with one hand doesn't need to Bob and weave. He was a medium sized heavyweight so he wanted that Goldilocks zone to get full leverage and weight on his shots. The best way to maintain that is to deflect, narrowly slip shots, or with glove control so that he can go right back to offense. As I mentioned in another post, superb boxers such as Chavez, Hoylfield, Holmes, etc did the same thing. Other boxer punchers such as Liston did not Bob and weave at all and preferred deflecting with subtle movement or keeping a strong guard. Like Louis, he had a powerful jab and fired back with it as soon as it was his turn to attack. Parrying means you can basically interrupt your opponents offense and force the momentum back in your favor to generate your own offense. And since Liston had long arms it didn't make sense to Bob and weave when he was often the larger guy in the ring who was good at throwing nuclear combinations at mid range.
Morrison has a great chance. I suspect Louis, being the more proven and reliable fighter, should be a slight favorite. Can't rule out Tommy by massacre, though. There's also the possibility that Tommy opts to out-box him, too. Again, Joe needs to be the slight favorite, but that based more on Tommy being unreliable than any inability to get the job done.
Yeah, that was more running than anything else. In the 30's Foreman would have won that by landslide. Tommy had a lot of potential, though. It's a shame it never materialized. When you look like that, though, and have tons of money. You get all the poon.
it is no chance tom wins easy win why should joe be the fav when he fought like that slow with basic outdated movement
yea but when the obvious shows different then what is being said I only seen that from basketball or boxing fans on the internet who act blind or just lie cause they dont wanna admit the truth cause they are a fan of the person
Sometimes I wonder whether this forum exists in an alternative universe to the one I normally inhabit, an alternative universe pretty much exactly the same, except that Tommy Morrison was a genuine contender of exceptional ability and quality, instead of a chinny hype job with a padded record.
Well, if you think I'm lying, and everyone else is lying, it seems very odd that you've dedicated so much time to trying to convince us that Louis was primitive. If we already know and just won't admit it, why bother?
well im here to tell the truth and try to help people to stop being stuck I thought thats why your here talking to me often you see I dont need help but u know I talk different my mind is different then the rest here you like to get my thoughts cause you know I am different the same way I know your different it's good to talk with people that way
Ahh the battle of the chinny bangers. Styles make fights, Joe was a smallish HW & slow of foot and I could easily see Tommy destroying him in 2 rounds. But then.. I can also see Joe the destroyer breaking a tired steriod fueled Tommy down in 7. I have a better match up.. go look.
