Taking Hearns from the Hagler fight how would he have fared against the Briscoe that met Monzon (either 1st or 2nd fight), and how would he have fared against the Briscoe that met Hagler?

Bad Bennie Briscoe, he was a natural middleweight.

I think Briscoe makes a good account of himself, but Hearns gets the job done mid-late rounds. If he injures his hand, like he did against Hagler, he boxes a shut out.

He was but we are comparing him against a fighter who went on to win world titles as high as Light Heavy and Cruiserweight. So not really an undersized Welter.

He filled that long frame out and still retained the strength and power.

Dont see Tommy knocking out Bennie, but maybe a strong decision win.

Briscoe parried Monzon`s jab well with his right hand but struggled to do that v Hagler because of his movement and unpredictable time, Hagler was just a little bit quicker as was Hearns who would land more jabs than Monzon was able to against Briscoe.

Idk, it's a potentially dangerous fight for Tommy. It could be another Barkley type fight with Bennie landing something hard, to put him down.
Hearns, I'd be inclined to think, out boxes him, but it's a thin ice fight possibly.

Bennie would throw one at a time. Far too slow

Hearns would just pick him apart

but Hearns from 1984/1985 would be far too dangerous for most fighters. Bennie might not fall but he's going to take a battering

Far too many punches coming in quick succession all at once for him to defend himself.

Bennie is still standing but tottering as the ref steps in for an early tko rd 3

Going with the consenus here - I think Tommy wins. I think he'd be able to outbox Bennie.

This is one of those matchups where you say , Tommy should really take a wide UD here, but there's that gnawing uneasiness about Hearns being in a 15 round fight with a sturdy guy with a good punch. Tommy was a whisker from losing to Juan Roldan and Bennie was rougher than Juan. If Tommy doesn't get Benny outta there inside 5 then Hearns could be in for a rough go later. Still Hearns is the way to go here.

This is a difficult stylistic matchup for Hearns. I see a difficult night for him if Briscoe is at his best

But what if Tommy gets one on the chin by Bad Bennie?, Tommy's chin is very suspect. Sure he won fights at other weights but he cannot take a punch from a heavy hitter.

Nicely played out, perfect prognosis, for my part I feel BB would catch up with Hearns in the last 3rd of a 15 rounder, always looked a tad unsteady when he didnt KO his opponents, plus Bennie had a indomitable will, unlike Tommy. keep well buddy.

Briscoe’s toughness would make him a favor but I think Hearn’s skills prevail here
