It wouldn’t surprise you for Taylor to move up and dominate Spence/Crawford/crew? Hmmm, man it sure would surprise me.
Until Lopez proves he can beat a top three 140lb fighter, he needs to shut his trap. He’s unproven and coming off a high profile loss. Fight a top guy and make your case. Instead, he brings his entitled attitude and expects everyone to give him what he has not earned. Typical punk. I don’t see Taylor calling out any WW’s. He has plans to move to the higher weight and has the size and skill to do well. Outside of Spence and Crawford, I don’t see any welters giving Taylor problems. The top 2 guys are very good fighters but Taylor would be arguably the best opponent either has faced. Until Taylor proves he can beat top WW’s, it’s too early to speculate. He’s very skilled and I suspect he will move to 147 soon. Meanwhile we will still be talking about Spence-Crawford because they don’t seem to have any plans to fight each other.
Which fans are demanding this fight? Lopez brings no money and no belt. Taylor doesn't want Kambosos's leftovers.
Both Ennis and Ortiz can give Taylor hell as well as so can those EE fighters there. 147 is no joke right now, if he was smart he'd wait out a couple more years and let Crawford and Spence get even older before moving up. Rematch Prograis should be his next move.
I’d like to see it! That was a good fight and those would be good options at WW. If he moves up, he will also have some great options to show his skills and I think Taylor is legit. Honestly, I don’t care about “undefeated” records. If Taylor loses a close fight, it wouldn’t change my opinion of him. All my favorite fighters through history have lost a fight. In todays boxing it’s a marketing ploy, especially when it comes to Crawford Spence. Crawford and Spence should be embarrassed to have avoided each other for so long. I can’t believe they still haven’t fought.
Cheat fans out of? In what world is Teo v Taylor a fight that MUST be made immediately or it's gone forever?
That's a good point, that was a very tough fight for both (even though I also had Taylor winning close) and Prograis is getting overlooked. I'd like to see Prograis back against solid opposition. Still, although I agree that a rematch would be a good thing, if I'm honest I'd rather see Taylor fight some of the talent around him rather than rematching Prograis. Spence, Crawford, Ortiz, Ennis, at 147 or some of the bigger 135s moving up would be more interesting to me. Because IMHO a Prograis rematch will look very much like the previous and will be another close decision, probably to Taylor but who knows.
I agree, Prograis lost a close close fight. A rematch would be a barnburner, I would say Prograis has more room for improvement. I honestly could see him and Taylor scoring a few knock downs in a rematch.
Since you think Lopez is better than anyone else at 140 , care to expand on that ? only significant win is Loma. Coming of a humiliating loss. Done nothing at 140. Isn't even a money fight. So exactly what does Lopez bring and why does he get to skip the line for the lineal champ at 140?
These Teo fans wanna see their boy get ruined JT will euthanize him and his career if he ever manages to claw his way back up to the top, only at 140 this time against opponents his own size or at least closer to it. The last thing that little punk needs right now is a biblical shellacking from an angry Jock with a mean streak 100 miles long who wants to do him serious damage Teo has already been knocked out or stopped in the gym at least twice, dropped in the gym a bunch of times, including by JT's former gym mate and sparring partner Cool Hand Luke Campbell, and KO 50% Kambosos obviously dropped him This content is protected And this too This content is protected His chin is wafer against punchers his own size
Thing is waiting and aging Crawford and Spence out just gives Ennis and Ortiz and the rest more time to get more established. One thing I really dig about Taylor is he would genuinely rather push himself to the limit and lose, and at least know where his ceiling is than play it safe. A real throwback, and whilst I am not necesarily predicting he dominates 147, he will be competetive and in the mix and give anyone there a real hard night. It's actually funny I was saying he should get an acclimitisation fight @147 before going straight in with Crawford or whatever, but maybe that's not the right play - 147 is stacked! It would be a damned ballsy move regardless. Personally I'd like to see him go up and get Ugas on mando type thing that Usyk did with AJ moving up from cruiser. Failing that I think Avenasyan would be a great fight - action packed, and the dude might not be top drawer in skills, but he is hard and hits hard, and is relentless.
An entitled classless punk with a big mouth. He showed his true colors after the Kambosos fight. Maybe not the best fight of the year but the most enjoyable. All the threats at the press conference and weigh in, the sour grapes post fight. It was like a movie with a happy ending. Let him beg for a fight at 140 or come back to 135 if he can boil down. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!
