Wasn`t that bad day his dreadful performance v Jones? Canelo would have done far better v Jones.

Well thats supposition based on conjecture Mark, Canelo is obviously skilled but...(here's my conjecture Mark) not as fluid or "Free thinking" it action ,read natural talent, as Toney ...let alone the incredible ,at peak, RJJ...

There's very few fighters in history that I've seen more highly skilled than Toney. Canelo respectively is not one of them.

James Toney has one of the most aesthetically beautiful styles I've ever seen

Toney, he was a special fighter. I think he'd beat Canelo.

Toney seemed to be one of those people who naturally pick things up, the kind of guy you show once or twice, he can use and ultimately almost perfect something in a short space of time. I’m sure I am probably down playing his early motivation, but you can see why he was competitive in his later year without being in love with the training regime that’s needed to have to transcend his talent in to long title reigns.

While Canelo is a skilled guy, no doubt you cannot get to his level without being highly talented, but you get the feeling that he listens, understands, trains very, very hard to try to perfect his craft. The fact that Canelo is showing a lot of new things, new tools over the years that’s he’s constantly learning and evolving in his career.

It’s hard to look past Toney for who is more skilled.

I would argue with someone saying Canelo is more skilled. Canelo is very good but not on the same level.

Tony also brought back the shoulder rolll back into fashion for Floyd to emulate.

    That's pretty funny.

Canelo would get clowned by Jones at Super Middle.

There levels and Canelo hasn't demonstrated that he could handle an ATG at that weight.

    Not remotely.

Toney looked awful in that fight, Canelo is a better conditioned athlete than Toney was that night.

Jones made everyone look awful that's my point.

Please give me evidence of Canelo being able to beat an ATG at Super Middle when he coudn't beat GGG legit at Middle.

On a purely athletic level Jones is one of the greatest i've ever seen.

Canelo might go the distance but would get lit up.

Well you arguement would hold more water if we were in Classic.

Your being hyperbolic like you've been triggered. who's saying "light years more skilled"?

The poll results are pretty clear pal.

The question is who has more skill not whos more consistant or had the better career.

Those questions Canelo would be the answer.

Roy would make even easier work of Canelo and Roy was a physical specimen. Not competative. Dude was insane

    Toney.

But after reading the answers, I think that canelo is way closer than what most people think.
