Not really. Look at the Chuvalo fight.

You really think Mercer had the heart and power Foreman had?

Tommy was a pro-partier, and hobby Boxer. Foreman was a dyed-in-the-wool professional.

I don't doubt Morrison could win against a young Foreman, but Foreman is the much more proven fighter. And he wasn't the crude mess you're proposing.

Louis was a fat, slow, 40 year old man way past his prime?

The dude was a beast. He had lots of limitations, mostly from lack of dedication, but he was more than just a hype job with a padded record. If you want to argue he couldn't have a career without extreme abuse of PEDs, OK. But then you also gotta put an asterisk next to the names of so many athletes of that era. Was Barry Bonds really as good as *Ted Williams? In terms of natural talent, definitely not. But the stats don't lie.

Even without roids, Morrison was much better than Carnera, Simon, Galento, Godoy and the brothers Baer.

And for as much as I respect Conn, no one was calling for Morrison's Light Heavyweight contemporaries to compete against him. Do you REALLY give a prime Spinks or Jones any chance against Morrison?

Nope. He was just plain slow, with no excuses to hide behind.

And even in his prime he never made runners out of men like Morrison, Briggs and Holyfield. Instead, he went life and death with Conn and Godoy.

So yeah, while George has an excuse for his condition, Joe does not. He also lacked the strength and chin that old fat George brought into the ring.

Yikes! How old was Schmeling there? Did he enter the ring with the aid of a walker?

Clearly not the dude who had KO'd Louis earlier... and Max was damn-near washed up then.

After seeing that, I'll probably go on a six mile run at lunch. My adrenaline is pumping.

But it confirms that Morrison is too much for Louis. He needed how many punches to put away someone's grandad? I am guessing Max must have refused a shot of Proper 12 that Louis had offered him?

Barry Bonds couldn't have written Your Cheatin' Heart if you gave him a century.

Louis beat Conn, Godoy, and Walcott who could all move better than Morrison and were faster.

The point was, using lateral movement to outbox a huge fat old man isn't enough to convince me Morrison would be boxing circles around Louis. Morrison did that for ONE fight in his career against a very slow stationary old opponent.

Morrison was not hard to hit and did not have a very good chin. Louis was good at cutting the ring off with stalking and pressure. And while Louis didn't have the fastest feet, he had very fast hands and good accuracy. You're acting like Morrison is going to go in there dancing like Whitaker when the guy went life and death with limited sluggers like Mercee and Ruddock and got hit plenty.

Yes actually I do give them a chance. If they don't get blasted out in the first 3 rounds, which shouldn't be hard to do given how slick they were, they make Morrison look stupid and pick him apart after he inevitably gasses.
