Fighters you used to hate for stupid reasons but knew they were the real deal?

The guy has no brains and is clearly certifiable. He comes from the same place as Sarah Palin which explains a lot.

 

At least today SRL admits Tommy beat him in the rematch.

 

George groves I disliked when he was gonna fight Froch as he just had such a dislikeable face and such a smug look that made me wanna see him get beat.

Used to dislike golovkin but more due to him having this aura of invincibility about him and just wanting to see him lose.

Probably more but can’t remember of top of my head but I do tend to dislike fighters for petty reasons

I hated SRL for waiting until Hagler got old before he fought him. Hagler was my all time favorite (probably still is) and he deserved better. SRL technically won but I didn’t like the running style SRL used to beat him. I like boxers who move well (Kambosos and Loma both moved well in their last fight) but to take a guy’s belts, especially a warrior like Hagler in that way didn’t sit well with me. Eventually I let it go and had to appreciate SRL’s amazing career.

I was pissed at Aaron Prior for years because he beat one of my favorites twice, Alexis Arguello. Eventually I appreciated the brilliant performance he put on and even met him in person before he passed. Super cool dude, I’ll always consider myself a fan.

In the 70’d I wasn’t a fan of the way Ali acted before a fight. I knew it was an act to sell tickets but I thought it was demeaning. He was so smart and graceful in the ring, the crazy talk made me dislike his personality.

Hector Camacho was a pretty good fighter and I didn’t like him for a long time because of his cocky act and goofy outfits. He had skills and I eventually grew to appreciate his talent.

 

I think Ray is a good guy and transparent, at least now. Even in losing, he was a real warrior in that fight, as was Hearns. I yelled myself hoarse that night. Hearns was happy that he at least didn't get completely robbed, it could have been worse, he could have got a undeserved loss.

I was pretty angry with SRL, when before the 2nd Hearns fight, in a interview when asked how he will beat Tommy, all he would do is point to his chin smugly, and the fact that he cherry picked Hearns right after he was ko'ed by Barkley and went life and death with James Kinchen. Emanuel and Tommy were ready though, Tommy worked on his legs and they got Tommy a special mouth piece because Tommy's jaw had shifted, to help him with his punch resistance.

 

I would say GGG I didn't appreciate him in his prime and was bias against him. I feel I have matured as a boxing fan over the years as after re watching a lot of his fights he is now one of my all time favourites. I felt sorry for him after the first Canelo fight I was genuinely rooting for Canelo but knew he was soundly beaten and GGG got screwed hard.

 

Still don't like Oscar and I never will.
