Holmes wins every single time

 

Nobody gets an easy win against prime Louis. That's an odd statement.

I do think Larry would go 2-1 with him, but those would be long difficult fights for both.

 

Sounds right to me. I think Holmes' footwork, jab, and distance control would give Louis serious problems, and he has the chin and durability to survive even if he gets clipped with some hard shots.

 

difficult why he wasnt hard to hit and wouldnt touch larry thats odd you would act like joe would be a tough match when he wouldnt

you must never seen larry much to say that I have cause conn didnt move that good gave joe a tough match or ether did both max move good ether and joe didnt just run though them which larry would have same as others would

so yea joe is a easy match for mutiple people

 

Going 2-1 Holmes. I’m also of the opinion that Larry was actually in the best shape of his life against Ali even though as it turned out, it was just an empty shell of Ali that turned up that night and Holmes hardly had to put in any real effort at all. With the experience of 2 years of title defences since winning against Kenny Norton, I think this was the peak version of Holmes.

 

Joe's right hand puts Holmes down at some point, but Holmes wins wide.

I see this going a lot like Fury-Wilder 1.

It IS possible, that Holmes stops Joe late. If this is the very best Holmes vs. the very best Louis, Holmes, statistically speaking, should win by TKO.

That's an interesting observation.

I'd like to imagine the best Holmes boxes from the outside and presents all the sorts of problems that smaller men like Conn and Walcott presented. But that version of Holmes just might not exist.

Even against Cooney he had to rush out and make his mark against Cooney to show he wasn't scared and that he was just as big a puncher... before setting into his strategy of out-boxing and drowning Cooney. Can't get that cheeky against Louis and not pay for it.

Conn was playing with fire all night, and is significantly smaller than Holmes. Holmes would fight from a distance, and Joe's face would accumulate serious damage.

 

how do you see this like deontay match when even though he moved sloppy he still moved more then joe joe loses this match fast he has no way to reach larry

 

Nope. Conn got his too. I think Joe would need to score knock downs to win though. Larry got tired often. If Norton could catch up to him then Joe with his faster hands, more power, and more crisp combos could to.

 

Very interesting, I think Holmes would tee off on Louis with his amazing jab. Granted Louis was great at slipping an opponent's jab and countering with his own, but if Conn and Farr could come close to beating Joe by throwing lots of jabs, I think Holmes would have a field day. Plus, if Louis did nail Holmes, Larry has the chin and cardio to stay conscious long enough to win a decision.

 

Lesser men than Louis dropped Holmes. Norton, Cooney, Weaver, Shavers, Snipes, Witherspoon - which of those guys do you consider more offensively skilled than Louis?
