Twitter and WhatsApp. People greatly overestimate sky sports news. 10 years ago it was huge, today socials have definitely over took it.
I know loads of casuals that have heard about this not long after the announcement. None of them are on social media… #sky
I don’t debate the football, especially BT they’re very good at pumping the boxing during the football. I do dispute that Sky Sports News holds the power it once does. I watch it now and again but 99% of the time when I hear about a fight it’s from twitter WhatsApp or instagram or a screen shot from of the said sources as opposed to me seeing it on sky sports news or someone else seeing it on sky sports news and then telling me about it. Social Media has a lot more power.
Yep. I'm from just outside Sheffield and everyone in pubs/work places is talking about it. If they fought in a northern stadium a few years back it would have sold twice over.
I 100% agree with all the points you make. "Cross-promotion" from football, darts, rugby etc is a very good marketing tool, as are Instagram, Twitter, Facebook etc. I also agree with you re Sky Sports News. It's increasingly a source of clips for social media, rather than the other way around. For me, I'll switch on only for genuine breaking news, e.g. the circus after the F1 race last week - otherwise it's just noise. The thing many forget is push notifications from apps. I bet most of us have got the Sky Sports app on our phones. Many of us will have DAZN or BT Sport installed as well. Sky sent me a notification right on the opening bell of Benn-Algieri reminding me I could watch Loma on Sky Sports Arena in a few hours. DAZN remind me about their press conference streams, weigh-ins, and of course live broadcasts via notification too. There's a reason DAZN wanted to get people to subscribe and download their app at a discounted rate. As soon as you're getting their notifications and emails, they've got a direct line to you. Sure, you can opt out, but many don't. TLDR: TV cross-promotion is big, Sky Sports News is relevant but isn't what it was, social media and apps are huge.
Khan ducked Brook all his prime like a cowardly *****. And now he's ducking a young hungry Conor Benn. He obviously didn't fancy his chances at all in the Benn fight.
There is a possibility that this takes place in front of a reduced crowd given the rising number of covid cases.
Mum jokes. How childish . Sorry my facts on Amir Khan hurt you so much. But forums are for opinions, so if you're this sensitive to any criticism of your favourite fighters maybe forums aren't for you.
