I just watched clips of Yomar Alamo and Liam Paro for the first time (that I remember).

Boy is that one ugly, unappealing matchup. They have similar frustrating unaesthetic styles. Usually when they're filling up that kind of undercard they get low skill bangers to knock each other out. Not sure why they're flying in someone from Australia to go spoiler vs spoiler.

 

Thanks to @PinoyProdigy for updating the scores of the competition this is really appreciated.

It is my rookie year and although I messed up early on by missing out on so many matchups. I have really enjoyed taking part.

 

My take for what it is worth Chris,

If you go back and take a look at the results sheet for each month and look how the picks spread out. They are detailed on each month. Most weeks there can be 10-15 that are 25-0 each pick. There are really only you and khaosai and a couple of others that are picking for the underdog title but you can see over the year that these picks do work but overall it takes a lot of losses to get them. It might be the case of fine tuning somewhere to lose some of the standard picks but ou will find everybody wants to pick Loma, Crawford, Spence, Canelo etc...

 

People are going to follow the herd when they don't know the names, a lot of 25-0 picks were 50/50 fights where very few actually analyzed them.

If anyone could predict which undercard fight will pique people's interests and get picks on both sides they could probably just predict the winner too and then who needs the league?

2/3 of the field was eliminated from the hunt for 1st place by February, so we have to celebrate competing against yourself and developing boxing analysis skills rather than having one happy winner and 59 miserable losers. Even casual participants make things more lively and interesting.

I have a few spitball ideas for ways to allow the people who want 50 minimumweight 8 rounders a week (like me) and people who are sane to coexist:

1. A subscore/subleague for major world title fights only, that's just a few picks per month.
2. People do WBK only, that's 12 picks per week and you can't pick exactly the same as your opponent.
3. A monthly "top ten" fights list, everyone has a chance to win because it resets each month.

To be honest if you go safe for the majority of the season you will most likely finish top.

I have 23 daredevil picks compared to Pincai and Chuck who have 11 and 12 for example.

Maybe there should be greater reward for getting an underdog pick?

It's different every season. First time I used the "go safe all the time" method, was the first season I ended up outside of the top10.
On the other hand, the "go nuts" method (I have 31 daredevil picks), doesn't seem to work either.
