Between George foreman and sonny liston who would do better against today's heavyweights

Liston was a quiter.

George, while fragile, at least fought through adverisity.

Both struggles enormously at Heavyweight, but could make waves at Cruiserweight. Well, assuming Liston doesn't implode.

Liston today, would probably die in his teens. He was a low life.

 

So the guy who murked Breazeale in 2 rounds and dropped Fury twice, after having been nearly stopped himself the round before, is a worse finisher than the dude who couldn't put away machen?

 

Lol Foreman weighed 230 in his prime. Which means he was heavier than Deontay Wilder who was the heavyweight champion. Foreman weighed just as much as Wladimir Klistchko before he steroid up and became heavyweight champion for 10 years.

There should be a section on this forum for casual boxing fans like you and then there should be the main forum for people who actually know boxing.

 

You do realize that isn't how boxing works right? If you want to use your logic Chris Arreola is a harder puncher than Wilder since Chris knocked out Eric Molina in 1 round while Wilder took 9 rounds. Also you do realize Dominic Breazeale at best is a D level fighter?

 

Lol if Liston was a better boxer than why was he getting knocked out in his late 30's by 190 pound guys like Leotis Martin while Foreman was fighting far better people and beating them into his late 40's?

 

You do realize Foreman had late round KO's in his prime? Just because he knocked out most people quickly didn't mean he couldn't go late,. I know what you will say but he tired against Ali. So you are going to find the worse case senario? Well Tyson Fury was almost knocked out by the natural 190 pound Steve Cunnigham. Tyson Fury couldn't knock out [url]Francesco Pianeta for crying out [/url]loud and ran from a washed up timid glass chin Wladimir Klitschko who also gassed out in various fights but Tyson Fury is knocking out Foreman?

 

Their careers are so incomparable that you can't make any conclusion out of that without contextualizing.

 

Also one final thing. You do realize Foreman fought various people that Wladimir Klitshko fought? Foreman fought guys like Shannon Briggs who fought up until 2016. Foreman fought a prime Evander Holyfield who almost beat Nicolai Valuev a guy both Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko were afraid to fight.

Foreman is a modern heavyweight. So is every other heavyweight from the 70's to this day. So Foreman would be heavyweight champion if he fought today.

 

But we can use our big boy brains. Foreman fought bigger and better fighters than Liston ever fought. Liston's best win in his prime was against a 180 pound Floyd Patterson and slow as molasses Cleveland Williams. That being said Liston struggled and lost to 180 pound guys like Marty Mashall. He barely beat guys like Johnny Summerlin. He barely got pass 180 pound guys like Bennie Thomas. Foreman steamed rolled through far better fighters in his prime.

Even when Foreman was packing on weight and was past his prime he still beat better guys than Liston ever beat. Foreman was a much better boxer than Liston and had better footwork was a harder puncher, and had a better chin.

 

I love these magical moments when something became "modern". Liston was only 17 years older than Foreman. Foreman is 40 years older than Joshua.

Lol little kid when Liston was at his peak the average heavyweight was 180 pounds. By the late 60's early 70's a huge amount of 200 plus pound guys got into the sport. Also little kid I never typed Liston wasn't a modern heavyweight. You stated Liston was a better boxer than Foreman. I proved that he wasn't. You are dismissed.

Foreman would be a force in any era but he's more vulnerable than people admit and would lose to Usyk and Fury imo.
