you are too harsh on beterbiev, I dont think he's shot. Shot...a guy fighting like he fought yesterday. Probably he's not in his prime... but shot? that's saying too much I think.
i dont think i am. im not judging him on how he looked in relation to brown, who offered nothing, im measuring him in relation to bivol and canelo. both will beat him quite clearly, imo. but all those who think he still looks the beast now, will do a 180 if he fights either of those 2 next. they will all say he got old between that fight and this one. i guarantee it. actually, i think even smith would have him getting called shot if that were his next fight. as well as ramirez. but please remind me of what im saying now if he fights one of those guys and he handles them like he did brown today. i will certainly admit i had it all wrong and you saw things more accurately than i did. im not infallible.
He started very slow early but after the gash opened and he felt the sense of urgency, he whooped Browne’s ass from the 5th round and on and looked as good as ever.
Alvarez dropped his MW belt and fought a washed Kovalev. These are the only two instances where this statement has been made.
then his best is not good enough to beat either bivol or canelo. i would bet on it. his timing is bad, his defense is non existent when trading, he cant throw at a moving target, and he cant counter. i can show you specific examples from the fight of everything i just posted. im not trying to downplay his victory, or downplay a future canelo or bivol victory over him, im reacting to what im seeing if i was training him or training a fighter to beat him.
I'm just not seeing what everyone else is seeing in Beterbiev as an unbeatable monster. He walks into counters all night against Canelo.
They see Golovkin but bigger and stronger. Not sure about his chin though. He was knocked down by Callum Johnson, although he did not look hurt.
Saw another thread where someone laughed at another poster saying Canelo has better footwork than Beterbiev. If you think Beterbiev has better footwork than Canelo, you need to pick another sport to watch.
I don't think there's any question Canelo is more skilled overall. It's just Beterbiev's size and strength that makes people doubt Canelo can win. If they were the same size, Canelo would win handily.
Neither of them have great footwork. Beterbiev is great a cornering his opponents. Couldn't even beat Golovkin, who is the same size, handily. In fact on my cards he never beat Golovkin.
