never will anyone agree a newer generation fighter can beat a fighter from the past nostalgia is too strong but i think taylor at 140 does well against some of the best

 

No way you watch Cotto fight at 140 and think he beats JT

 

Cotto was extemely shaky at 140. I actually thought he was too short for 147 and would eventually get beat by Margarito or Paul Williams. Anyhow, right now I'd still give the edge to Cotto over Taylor mainly because of his more proven track record. I'm not too high up on Postol or Ramirez. I'm sure over time JT should overtake Cotto's record though. If he could beat guys like Spence or Crawford I'd rank him higher right away.

Cotto, he was never really close to being outboxed at 140.

And despite his alleged "frailty" at the weight, he took Randall Bailey shots, he took Lovemore N'dou shots, had a shoot out with Torres (that he won), and the Corley right hook that he caught Cotto with was the same one that he caught Floyd with. Corley is very underrated.

Taylors jab isn't as good as Cotto's nor is his body attack. And although very good, I've seen Taylor get hit with things from guys that ain't good as Cotto that had he been hit by Cotto, it would've turned him gunshy.

At 147, Cotto really came into his own, no way Taylor beats the 147 version who became an elite boxer/puncher
