Parker put Chisora on silly street numerous times and possibly could or indeed to some should have gone in for the KO, however when tagged Chisora still had the mental where with all to put self in a corner as a defensive position and prepare to fire back.

Chisora is a out and out warrior eating punches for the fun of it, Parker clearly won the fight, he should not have had to fight the judges suspect scoring.

I like the KOs as much as the next guy, however sometimes against a warrior who is always firing back, then you have to take a measured approach and secure the win, it may not be highlight reel stuff but that big ol W on your record keeps your career going forward, wheras a L at best stalls career progress.

Usyk 'only' beat Chisora by UD same as Parker, and he has not done too badly since in the heavyweight division, even got a few World heavyweight belts so the rumour goes.

Would love to see Joyce Vs Parker. A good match up for both I think.

Only downside I can think of is the build up and press conferences. Both being genuine and modest very likable and respectful blokes, as a result I've got a funny feeling there'd be no trash talking here....
    Good fight though.

I'd be favouring Joyce if this happened.

The scoring was criminal. Absolutely. I'd score this fight anywhere from 117-108 to 119-106 in Parker's favor.

Usyk was underwhelming when he fought Chisora - but that's where the similarities end. And let's not forget that Usyk's fight against Chisora was his 2nd HW fight ever...Parker fought Chisora in his 31st.

Watched this on delay so I can get the feel watching it live.

Parker did what he should of done the first time but he does make a meal of things sometimes.

114-112???sheeeeit. That judge must have been on the complimentary Carlings.

Yes and Usyks 3rd HW fight was when he won against AJ and got all those belts.
I was not comparing Usyk and Parker other than both won by UD against Chisora.

If Parker had gone for the KO and got caught by a last chance Chisora haymaker, would we be applauding him for having a go, no we would either be saying he obviously is crap for getting tagged, or he was foolish for not just taking the points win.

Parkers points win means the money will keep rolling in with decent purses, a loss would have impinged on that, at end of day a boxers time to earn money is relatively short, so gotta earn best purses while you can, Ws on record rather than Ls facilitates that.

I thought the fight was a decent bout to watch, both were getting stuck in and fought for most of 12 rounds at quite a intensity.

Hard to look good vs Chisora. Both Parker and Usyk did just fine.

I just came back into this thread and noticed the scorecards. I turned off the show to make dinner; even Canelo would have lost this fight if he had been Chisora. Well, maybe a draw.

Unbelievable scores. Then again, nothing should surprise us in boxing anymore.
Next time a Brit rails on about US boxing skulduggery I'll mention the 114-112 score .

Parker made fools of over half the forum with this one.

Dude is a legit top 10 HW. And he seems like a cool guy in the few interviews I have seen. Dont know why so many dislike him. Hope he rematches Whyte if Whyte doesnt get the Fury fight.

Don’t worry. They’ll feed Chisora some leftovers — long past-it heavyweights like they did with Price and Szpilka — and prop him right up again as if he’s a proper contender so they can sell the journeyman as a force and a contender.

He’s a game guy who comes to fight but so limited, it’s amazing they’ve been able to keep this veneer of viability about him so long.

Agreed. And of course there were the obligatory threads following this win still hating on Parker.

Parker is a solid top 6 and just beat a guy in the top 15. Something he was getting shade for in the build up.

I look forward to their responses when border-line top10 Ortiz takes on Top 30 Martin. Some already talking about the winner of that to get a title shot.

I'll stand up and eat crow, I was too harsh on Parker recently. He looked the best I've seen him in a while tonight and deserved top ten ranking. Ortiz vs Martin......Ortiz beating Martin means nothing.
