Parker is the worst finisher in HW history

he didn’t finish Parker though did he.. head butt and all

 

He finished Chisora though that’s the point I was making. Parker lacks the killer instinct.

 

Andy Lee obviously had good reasons. Probably didn't want Parker to pull an AJ and fully gas out.

 

Difference between "finishing" someone and a clean knockout punch though.

 

What I saw was Parker couldn't get rid of an old shot fighter like Chisora. Chisora showed a lot of guts but he no longer has the gears to fight at the upper levels. Does anyone think Chisora would have survived if he'd been in the ring with say, Joyce? I don't.

 

not only did chisora get to the cards he normally came roaring back at the end of the rounds he was rocked in

 

Joyce is an attrition guy though. It's like every second you're in the ring with him you're slowly being worn down. Parker is a burst fighter. He lacks the raw power and consistency of a Joyce but is far faster and more likely to catch you with something you aren't expecting. He stunned and dropped Chisora several times, whereas against Joyce Chisora would probably just get slower and more beat up until he finally takes a knee or doesn't come out of his corner.

 

I agree that Parker needs to work on getting a hurt opponent out of there better, but Chisora was wily and played possum a number of times to try to catch Parker on the ropes. If Parker was a bit sharper he could maybe have caught Chisora with something that ended the fight, but he hesitated because he didn't want to overcommit and walk into a big counter shot or gas himself out. Overall I thought Parker played it smart by not overcommitting while still putting enough heat on Chisora to keep him in a shell. Good tactics overall.

 

Chisora showed over and over that he is dangerous when hurt.

So why gas out chasing the KO?

Either way it was a tremendous beat-down. Hardly anyone can do that to Delboy - including Usyk.

 

A prime Chisora got destroyed by blown up Cruiserweight David Haye. Chisora isn't that tough. These current heavyweights are just that bad.

 

When parker let his hands go he is very exciting and impessive problem is he doesnt believe in himself and only does it 3 times in in whole fight.

it is fustrating that you can see that he has this gift, talent but does not fulfill it. It is mental problem, good thing is that in this fight he atleast showed it 3 times in last years since Takam fight he never showed this ability.

Parker is one of these fighters that could pull Buster Douglas and have that one night where it all falls in place, imagine if that happened aginst undisputed champion Tyson Fury.

 

Any top 10 HW could have stopped that version of Chisora. If Chisora goes on to face a Joyce, a Hrgovic, a Dubois or God-forbid a Wilder, he will get destroyed early.

 

There's "laying a tremendous beatdown" on a fighter and then there's simply ending a fight by hitting him with a shot that is simply too big for him to cope with. Haye, Whyte, and Fury all managed the latter (which is preferred) and JP did not despite having an older Chisora at his disposal to work with and one that was likely hearing an Angelic choir on several occasions during the fight.

That said, I want JP to fight Hrogivc or Joyce next and I'm reasonably sure those fights can be made.

 

Jack Johnson was worse. He won a lot of fights, but most of his opponents were still standing at the end.

But I agree, Parker should have been able to finish Chisora.

 

David Haye could really crack. I don’t see how you can argue at this point that Chisora isn’t tough.
