Carlos Ortiz and his wife are my friends. He wanted to fight Duran. Duran pulled out injured. Ortiz was past his prime but he never ducked Duran. He was always wailing to fight him.

    Thank you for answering that!

    Was Duran truly injured?

The two of them meeting in prime form would have been an amazing fight! Too bad they "just" missed each other.

I’ve heard Duran wasn’t really injured. Buchanan stepped in. Seems strange as Carlos was WAAAAY beyond his prime.

I hope Mrs Ortiz put a stop to that, nothing worse than a constantly wailing boxer! ;)

I liked Spinks, and he is defiantly a top ten Queensberry Rules 175lber, and arguably top five, but there were moments even in his pomp where he looked beatable.

For starters some would suggest Eddie Davis may have edged him in their fight. I thought Spinks won, but not by the near shut out a couple of the judges had it.

Fought Ken Buchanan and lost. Maddison Square Garden. Carlos didn't fancy Ken at all and wanted to pull out. The promoter upped his purse by ten grand so he'd take it.
    Ken told me that.

Yeah, Carlos was a shot fighter at this point basically. Just didn’t have the fire. I visited Carlos in August and showed him a video my friend in Scotland had Buchanan record just saying some nice things. Seems to like him a lot and vice-versa.

To be fair, Carlos seems a nicer guy than Ken. I knew him through his Daughter, Karen. A bitter fellow. I understand why but he's still difficult company.

I’ve never met Ken but I’ve spoken to him over the phone. I’m working on bringing him here to LA for the West Coast Boxing Hall of Fame and he’ll actually be inducted with Carlos. Carlos and his wife are just fantastic people. He’s such a nice guy.

Robinson at his best was a force of nature and bar far the best around at the time, I think Walker and Leonard are good fights but I wouldn’t confidently pick either to beat him.

A 91 winning streak for me is something special.

    All three are exceptional.

I noticed that no one mentioned Joe Calzaghe 168.
    Why?
    Isnt that an understatement?
