54 pages and the only technical break down I've seen is that Morrison's footwork against a fat 40 year old would guarantee a win.

Everything else has been about how Morrison would be too big and modern for Louis. A strange claim considering Morrison was only half an inch taller, 8-10 lbs heavier on average, and had more gaps in his game plan and defense than a cheese grater.

Yeah, it’s funny how Joe gets shrunk when it suits the argument.

Just goes to show how big guys like the Baer bros, Carnera, Simon etc. really were.

Exaggerated stats have always been around but perhaps more so now - like Tyson Fury can be strongly argued to be 6’7” NOT 6’9”. That’s just a scant 1/2” taller than Buddy Baer who clearly looked his 6’6 1/2” listing.

I alway felt Joe was actually between 6’1 1/2” and 6’2”. Quite a revelation to see how close an older Joe stood next to 6’ 2 1/2” Ali.

Not a lot of difference between Joe and Liston either.

I’m not necessarily into upsizing fighters but Joe could’ve easily handled a considerably added 15 lb to 20 lb of muscle imo.

One final note, Joe had quite massive calves and thighs which I’m sure made no mean contribution to the power ultimately channeled through his fists.

30s film does weird things to fighters. Joe looks tiny in most of his first career, and then he's up against Rocky era guys, or in 40s sparring footage, and you realize, "Wait, that's a Liston sized dude right there."

Here’s Joe in a publicity shot for Frazier v Chuvalo - bigger than two highly ranked contemporary HWs near 30 years after Joe won his title.

Joe also appeared notably larger than both combatants when he ref’d the 2nd Frazier v Quarry fight. Joe’s refereeing was terrible though. :(

Anyone will look tiny when they are far away from the camera.
    Unless it's a zoom lens.

Louis's size is well recorded. He was between 6'1 and 6'2. He weighed in around 200, 205 in his prime years, in fighting shape, natural lean weight. 213 or so when he was a bit older.

Bob Pastor had quicker feet than any HW from the 1990s. You can watch his fights against Louis.

I'm not a liar, Louis stopped Walcott. It shows that Louis movement is more effective than Walcott's, that's why he beat him. That's why he beat Conn and Pastor as well - all three were more mobile than Morrison.

This is the second Walcott fight, when Louis was way past his best and noticeably slower. His "outdated" movement made fancy Walcott struggling to stay away from Louis. Joe put himself in position to counter more mobile Walcott without unnecessary movement and he countered him a lot. Outside of flash KD, Louis looks clearly better in the footage we have.

So maybe Louis didn't dance around like Walcott or some more modern fighters, but his footwork made him win this fight. Morrison moved far worse than Walcott by the way, not even close.

I already illustrated it clearly in my earlier post. No need to repeat it.

Strong lower bodies definitely contribute to punching power. When it's convenient they'll point to guys like Tua who was a very thick and stocky fellow but act like they're blind when they see photos of Louis.

The bone structure and the way the weight is distributed give it away. When a guy has eaten and/or lifted his way up to above 200 lbs unnaturally, the thin wrists, skinny legs, and neck betray them. The weight is spread out evenly on Louis and he doesn't look as though someone just pumped him up full of air. His large hands, wide shoulders, etc are in harmony with his added bulk. Louis face is a little rounder than his prime, but it looks organic in the sense that he simply got older and stopped training. He always had a somewhat stocky build with a roundish face and nose.

In comparison, this is why a modern guy like Ruiz looks like a loony toons character. His weight is far above what his frame can handle and he will have serious health problems when he's older if he doesn't burn some of that fat.
