That’s a nice HW fest. I like that Viktor Vykryhst is making a little step on a televised event. The main event will probably a semi-title eliminator, It’d be very cool if the winners of the 4 undercard fights faced each other next.
This fight is basically Joshua v Wilder we never got. If Ortiz wins that irrefutably means Wilder was always better than Joshua and vice versa.
Who would have thought that a man born in 1922 would be featuring in the first big boxingmatch of 2022.
I said Frank, you hang out with Luis Ortiz, just between me and you how old is Luis Ortiz? You know what Frank told me, he said hey Luis Ortiz is 137 years old, a 137 years old!
This lines up with the boxing historians that all claim Dempsey didn't duck Ortiz, rather Ortiz was seen as too old to be a viable challenger during Dempsey's reign.
Even though Joshua blew Charles Martin out zero difficulty while Wilder struggled with Ortiz ? You'd better hope Ortiz stops Martin quickly
Martin was ever good, and Oritz used to be good, but that was many years ago and he still didn't beat anyone. Why do I think the winner here will get a title fight? Because both are bad. I don't like this fight, the politics stink.
The headliner of this PPV would of been on the untelevised portion of a Don King card back in the late 80s early 90s.
So dumb. College Football is king on 1/1, don't ever go head to head with it and expect results. Unless of course they want to start this late after the college games when everyone is asleep from the hangover the night before.
Honestly, that was my thinking. Ortiz is Wilder's best win, and Martin is not even close to being in Joshua's top 5. That is what makes this fight interesting, but it would have negative implications for the division as a whole if Martin wins. Though it would be hilarious to see Ring magazine promote Martin into their top 10 if he does.
