Beterbiev vs Michael Spinks

Cooney was a drunken bum. Overrated bum who was eventually exposed. Beterbiev hasn’t looked as sharp in recent fights but watch the Gvoz fight. He was a wrecking machine against the guy who put the Pimp on a coma.

 

Current Beterbiev is not beating 1987 Cooney despite the fact that Cooney had no will to win. The size and power difference is ridiculous. Spinks was about 210lb on the night and 6'2.

 

So he was shot? He was at least three years younger than Beterbiev when he retired. Spinks was a great fighter but I don’t think he would be able to stand up to the punishment AB would be dishing out. We can agree to disagree but everyone is acting like Spinks was an ATG. He was a really good LH but not Evander level or Usyk (I know he was a cruiser).

 

Your post is all speculation except the fact that you wrote Spinks was quaking in his boots BEFORE entering the ring. How do you know Beterbiev would not be scared of Tyson before entering the ring? How do you know Spinks would be scared shitless after getting hit by B? Pure speculation on your part. Spinks was never off of his feet at 175 which people seem to forget. Artur is a very good 175 pounder, but I would bet the house prime Tyson takes him out in round 1 as he would just about any other 175 pounder not named James Toney, whose granite chin might give him a shot at getting out of the 1st round.

 

Spinks IS an atg. He is in the argument as the GOAT at 175. I personally have him about 3 at that weight, not that that really matters in the big picture

 

Was a nice payday for 2 mins work. $9m bucks. Did the wise thing walking away while he still could and enjoying his money.

 

He was. Spinks style twists and jerks his hips and torso in odd ways while Beterbievs style is more Russian Man Bear Terminator. Also cartilage issues can be genetic, age being less of a factor than wear and tear.

 

Thirteen million five hundred thousand after everything was said and done was the number I've seen.

 

Who did Cooney ever beat? He beat a bunch of bums, a washed up ancient Ken Norton and Ron Lyle (I think Lyle was like 40) and lost to Holmes, Spinks and Foreman. Cooney literally lost to every decent month washed up fighter he faced. He was hype job bum but a nice guy.

 

I never knew this tbh. Adds some light to why his showing was poor although he didn't help himself on the night.

Which LH opponent of Spinks would beat Beterbiev? 5’3” Quawi? I liked Spinks but don’t see him beating a guy as tough as Beterbiev. It would not be a thing of beauty but AB would beat him. Both are very good fighters and I can’t see Beterbiev losing to Spinks.

 

At the 20 second mark you can see him twist his entire body balancing on the knees to throw a shovelhook/uppercut.. hard to look at. He moved and darted in an out stopping hard on those poor knees, Beterbiev doesn't so much dart as walk down people.
